HEMI is out-Cummins is in
Cut the deal today. After my last 2 tanks averaged 8.8 and 9.3 MPG, I had enough and went back to the dealer and worked the best deal I could. They didn't bend me over too bad, and we worked a pretty good compromise-but I knew it would cost me some. Don't tow much, but I still got a cheaper deal per month than what the HEMI payment and 250 bucks in gas per month would cost.

No matter, am very anxious to pick her up tomorrow. Silver/SLT/QC/HO/6 speed/3.73/dually. My other truck was silver also, so almost same thing except for the driveline.

Good to join you guys and keep the Cummins tradition alive.

That is horrible mileage for a modern fuel injected, computer controlled engine.
Was that just running around, or was there any towing involved?
My '74 Ford F250 got that (with a tailwind ) and it was carburated, nothing electronic in it.

What octane fuel does the Hemi need? can you get away with the cheapest unleaded?

Inquiring minds and all that.

Oh, welcome to the ranks.

phox

That's what ****** me off. They told me 10% better than the 5.9-yeah, right. The best I saw was 11.5 on the interstate with a tailwind. Just spent 55 bucks and 53 bucks the week before. Got fed up having to stop at a gas station every 260 miles. There is allot of people out there saying they are getting 15-16 mpg, ********!

It's mostly driving around town, but to be honest it doesn't change much on the interstate.

Whew, my X gets 11 around town. I thought that was bad. It may be something with Dodge gassers, though. I had a 96 1500 w/5.2 and it only got 12-13 on the highway.

...you just put your foot to the floor all the time???

Seriously though, sorry about the awful mileage, but I can guarantee you that the Hemi is not suppose to return those kind of numbers.

And don't count out those people who say they are getting 15-16 mpgs (Figure approx 15mpg with the cruise set at 70). Also, there's about fifty other figures to figure in such as 4x4/4x2, auto/stick, etc...

Granted, a NA Hemi is never gonna compete with a factory stock, heavily blown 5.9L diesel, but it can hang pretty good...

Justin.

My hemi is doing just less than 13mpg when I measured the last couple tanks. This is a mix of city, freeway, mountain driving. I don't tow in the winter, but I'll bet towing mpg's are pretty low.

I got 9.5 - 10.5 with my V10!! And the V10 WAY out-torques that hemi. Another reason, if you got to go gasser to get the V10, but Dodge is REALLY pushing this Hemi.
