Greenish Diesel ULSD or Not??

Just filled up today at my local Love's and noticed the diesel was greenish color like scope mouth wash. Does anyone know if the new ULSD is green. The sticker on the pump still says LSD 500ppm sulfer on it. I cant remember if the diesel I have pumped prior to this was greenish or a brownish in color. Just trying to figure out if I am running the new fuel yet or not..Thanks for any input especially any CA guys out there that's been required to run it longer than the rest of us.

All the diesel that I have pumped around here for years has been a green-ish color. I do not know what the new ULSD is supposed to look like, but I would imagine that it would be dyed the same as taxed diesel is now.

Coparam4x4-
You beat me to the punch as I was going to post this same question. I filled up today at a new Superwalmart in town that opened a couple of weeks ago. My first thought was I was pumping something bad and had to squirt a little on my finger to do the feel/smell test. Looked like lime green gatorade to me. I've pumped diesel for going on 4 years now into both my trucks and it has always been a pale yellowish color and this one scared me.

Yea I just want to know if I am now running the new ULSD even though the sticker on the pump still says LSD 500ppm? I've only driven my truck for 20 miles with this fuel in it so I haven't seen a differnce in milage or perfomance yet. Probably wont be driving for a while since I'm laid up from my dirtbike crash.

I'm in CA and was just telling my Dad yesterday how ULSD is clear, like gas.
It has always been clear since they changed the stickers on the pumps 5 months ago.
I remember old diesel was sea foam green and smelt way better, more aromatic.

Also I've been adding 10 oz of PS silver bottle per tankfull since ULSD came out as my truck ran noticibly rougher.

I changed my first fuel filter a couple of months ago (pre-ULSD) and the fuel looked like Scope. It didn't look anything like it did when I've gotten fuel and topped off my tank. It got me thinking as well.

Here's a similar thread on green ULSD from last week in the fuels forum:

Alright here is what I have noticed. Ever time I get fuel I look at it while it's being pumped. Up until about 4 or 5 months ago it always had a greenish/blueish color, now that it's ULSD it's clear in color. It's like I'm pumping water in my tank, and it's not near as strong of a smell.
One day at a Pilot I put the nozzle in and started pumping, pulled it back alittle to check the color at it was RED. I stopped it and went inside, the guy pulled the tag and saw the driver had put 2500 gallons of red dyed fuel in the tanks!! So sometimes it helps to see what your putting in there.
My other concern is our old D4 dozer, I hate the idea of putting this "new" fuel in that old motor. It still runs great and I'd like to keep it that way.
What are these additives ya'll talk about, what are the good ones. I see the abreviations but don't know what there for.

The dye color doesn't really matter as long as you don't get your tank dipped... the main thing is to make sure that it's the same quality fuel - I think the ULSD tastes just the same as the LSD, so I wouldn't worry about it!

Green, Blue-Green, Orange or Clear

Forgot which oil company site I read this on but the new ULSD can be all above.

It doesn't matter what color the diesel is, the refineries were required by law to stop making the LSD by June. All retail outlets are supposed to be selling ULSD by Oct. 15, 2006. All fuel sold now is ULSD reguardless of what the sticker on the pump says or they are in violation of federal law. Go to the link below for the requirements on the fuel. (note #2)
