Wink LSD diesel and ULSD diesel??

So theres this realy tiny winy gas station in our little town that has diesel.

A sticker on the pump clarifies that it is LOW SULFUR DIESEL (LSD) and not ULTRA LOW SULFUR DIESEL (ULSD).

The sticker says.. "diesel engines newer than 2007 may be damaged by this fuel"... or something like that. you get the point

so that may be a good sign..all the other 7 gas stations in town INCLUDING; flying J.....PILOT.....and LUKOIL....(all truckstops)...have a sticker saying ULTRA LOW SULFUR DIESEL on the pump.

Sooooo just letting you know that some states (definely new jersey) have LSD which is better for our old pumps and i think it makes them quieter than all this new ULSD garbage that does'nt lube our pumps enough to there liking.

So take a drive around one day to all your local places and look on the diesel pump for the warning (which is better for us ole 1st gens)... the nice indian feller said they are required to have a LSD clarification sticker on the pump.

i hope to save VE pumps with this public service announcement.

I ran into this in Oklahoma or Arkansas last summer. Almost filled up a 2007 GMC/ Cat engine with it(LSD). Glad I noticed, had to go elsewhere for ULSD. It's great that it still exists, albeit too rarely. My confusion is probably the same as others in that there is no consistency in this country. If some person filled up a new truck there unknowingly and it caused damage how could it be his fault? Ya know the attendant isn't bright enough to warn him /her. We have been led to believe that everywhere we go it will be ULSD. I wish it were all LSD, but if the government is going to change things they need to be clear and pick one way. I coulda been in a world of hurtin in the middle of nowhere and never knew why, had I not noticed. Good reporting, I wonder why they can serve LSD? Maybe you could find out. I was under the impression that it was law and it changed uniformly, then thought maybe there was a lag in the conversion at a particular station, but it seems there is no consistency. The lesson is not too critical for first gens, but the third world ought to be checking the pump every time.

Probly just leftovers sitting in the tank of a slower station. Any new fuel will be ULSD and will start thinning out the LSD tanks. Just a matter of time until they can certify the <5ppm (?) spec for ULSD.

I use a Truck Stop in Coopersburg, PA for fuel and the pumps only have LSD stickers on them. I asked the guy that runs the place if it indeed was LSD and he said YES. He won't go to ULSD untill the LSD is not available.

Funny thought they say the price is high because they have to take the extra sulfur out but the stations that sell LSD and the ones that have ULSD sell at the same price ????

Thats exactly what i said. theres no difference in fuel price between LSD and ULSD until you get to the red non highway. so its either ULSD destroy any diesel 2-20 years old. or LSD destroy just 2007-2008..more places should have LSD and ULSD should be more expensive so we can keep LSD around.
