ULSD Not recommended for 2007 Vehicles??

Just saw this today.

LOW SULFUR HIGHWAY DIESEL FUEL
(500ppmSulfur Maximum)

WARNING

Federal Law prohibits use in model year 2007 and later highway vehicles and engines.

Its use may damage these vehicles and engines.

Whats this all about? What are purchasers of the new 2007 model year trucks supposed to do..

Is this a refiner specific warning????

well, not really. There are some 07 on the lot that have the 5.9 and you can run LSD or ULSD in them, the 07.5 with the 6.7 in Jan are ULSD only

So this is just a refiner thing.

What refiners make the 15ppm diesel.....

I feel a little stupid here. I was thinking that this was a ULSD warning, but it was a LSD warning.

So this fuel that I have is not the dreaded ULSD but the better LSD.

Guess I know where I am fueling up from now on.......

I put whatever is at the station I stop at in my 07. I haven't really worried about it. I'm sure they would have warned me if there was a problem running the available fuel in my truck.....

500ppm that you are writing about is LOW sulfur (your sign was for this)

15ppm is the Ultra Low Sulfur (ULSD)

The new emissions standards are what's prompting the 2007 and newer vehicles to use the 15ppm (ULSD).
So they were saying don't put what you saw into a 2007 or newer.

If you're asking if ULSD is available in Pasadena, MD; the answer is yes. I think most of the stations on Route 2 have it.

I filled up at an exxon the other day "not one i usally stop at because its high" there was a sticker on the pump that said. This diesel is ULSD 15ppm etc etc. That the first pump around me that i have seen with that sticker. I asked the guy at my normal fill up place if they had it. He looked at me stupid like he didn't know what it was. None of there pumps are marked yet.

Station I usually fill up at is not marked, though according to most people I talk to, here in Southern California, we have had ULSD for months now. They might be wrong about the station I usually fill up at, but who knows. Filled up at a different brand station yesterday, and the pump was clearly marked ULSD.

You should ask the smoke-letter hippies if they like ULSD... and give 'em a taste!

Must say, I will never know who reported me, as I say when I mention the letter to people, "I dont know if it was somone in a hybrid, a hippie, or somone in another Diesel rig who was jealous of my smoke."

But I have noticed today in driving a bit less smoke. Looks like its time to turn up the smoke screw some. Dern ULSD making me tweak my pump

Why do you think LSD is better?
I think people are still confused here. The pumps say that all '07 vehicles and later must use the fuel at that pump (USLD). All fuel stations are to convert to USLD. You can run the new USLD in your current trucks. There's nothing wrong with it. It is better for the environment. It takes more processing to produce than LSD.

From what I have read on here as well as other sites, the extreme lack of sulpher, which acts as a lubricant, can damage certain parts including injector pumps.

In saying this, the more sulpher the better, except for these new '07 vehicles that are designed to run on the ULSD. I am certainly not happy of the hassle of having to go and add extra additives to increase the lubricant properties of my fuel.
