Fresh air without the fan??
Minor issue and may seem silly, but thought I would ask.
Without the fan on, even though I'm driving 70, I get zero air coming through the vents. Is this normal? If it is normal, has anyone made a modification to get more airflow without the fan? (And no, I'm not running on the recirculate mode.)
All of my other vehicles get good air flow into the cab when I'm driving 70.
Thanks

If I remember correctly without the fan on then the vent system shuts down, ie it doesn't open any of the vacum acuated dampers to allow air flow, so NO you will not get any air w/o the fan on low
Thats a good thing here in Oklahoma.
My wife's Trailblazer defaults to *vent open* when you switch the AC to off, and in comes a nice Oklahoma dust/pollen/mold/cow hookie smell laden gust of air. I hate it! So everytime you kick it off you have to hit the recirculate button to shut the vent off.
So I like the idea of it being closed by default.

Sorry couldn't resist.
Off by default for me too.
Tyson is killing 250,000 chickens a day here, they have all been pooping for about 6 weeks I guess, anyway when spring hits the spreading and slinging begins. You run through areas that off is very handy.
But I am used to auto ventilation, and very often get a little stuffy before I remember to turn on the fan.

I started the thread about Fresh Air without the Fan. Here’s why I need help.
One year ago while I was walking (on a sidewalk), I was hit by a car which left the scene. Head split open bleeding like a broken water pipe, grade 4 concussion, and buggered shoulder. 24/7 care for the first three weeks. My whole world changed. I had to learn to walk again, my vision was gone, had to drape the house to keep out light. I’ve mostly recovered, but am left with two hearing problems; tinnitus (a ringing in both ears that changes frequency and intensity) and hyperacussis, a sensitivity to noises.
I had to sell my beautiful 01 CTD – the migraines and pain would return when I drove it. But I refuse to give up on CTD. So I borrowed an 04 for a weekend and decided with modifications, I would be okay. I’m adding the hood pad, Fatmat on back wall, etc. The Doc says to quiet everything possible, including the fan. I can’t drive with the windows down – too much noise. Since most of my driving is on the highway, having air flow without the fan on would be very helpful.
Sorry for the long post. Any help on how to do this would be appreciated. Thanks.

How about just using hearing protection of some type? That way you could have full use of your heating and air conditioning. Which might be important in the winter and probably nice in the summer. That could also help supplement all the other noise reductions.
339&counting, glad to hear of your improvements, sounds like experimenting with hearing protection might be worth a try.
I can identify a little, not nearly as serious as yours, but my motorcycle was rear ended , I was going 55 he was going 85, I became one giant scab among other things, I think about and am just really glad to be here somedays.
dcorneli: I see you have 2000 dokota, that is what I had before the RAM. I had an airaid air filter on it, sounded great, ran teriffic, sucked gas. I get better in town with the RAM CTD than I did on the highway with the dakota, it was fun, but I don't miss it. I love this truck.

Hey Fanofthewolf. I live in Winston, but I've been through your neck of the woods countless times--went to school in Boone and my wife has relatives up around Jefferson. We actually have a Durango. The mods I made to it boosted the power a bit. Got 5 mph more out of the Durango pulling the camper up 421 with the TB and intake.
