dually tire question again

All right I know this has been posted on here before but I want y'all to break it down for me. I'm wanting to run 285's on my truck. I realize that I am going to need new spacers for the duals. Where do I get them and how big do I need? I've talked to several local tire stores around here and none of them have ever put bigger tires on a dually. So break what I need to do down for me please. Thanks
Ross

I just went through the same process, and after about 3 days of research have decided to go with some Toyo 285/75-17s, which I just put on order with one of the only dealerships that carries them around here. They are an E-rated 34x11.5" tire, and I was looking at 35" tires, but they were all D rated, which on our skinny rims would create too much sidewall flex under load. The spacers I got I ordered off of ebay, and I got the 2" ones, which will give me plenty of room between tires, but I also won't have to trim the original lugs to make them fit.

What BgBlkTrk said,
I've been running the Toyo 285/75/17 with Rockstar wheels for a couple of months and love'em. 2" spacers give me a little over an inch between tires. The Rockstars have a little less spacing than the stock steels so you should have a little more clearance. They fill the wheel wells so much better than the stockers and they look and ride great.

Very nice! Can you tell me how far they stick out beyond the wheel wells, or even better take a picture looking from the back down the side? That setup looks hot! I would also like to hear/see the rear flares.

Thanks.

Yup-it is 8x6.5, and if you can believe it, I called 2 local dealerships to verify this, and neither of them knew what I was talking about! I finally had to go out and measure it myself. Thanks again CJHauler-you led me in the right direction!

Its all going to be dependant on what space you are comfortable with between your tires and what you use them for-I have read about people that have larger tires that rub under load slightly and they are fine with that, and others that have a tall skinny tire and small space between them: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=170380
You would just have to watch your tire pressure and sidewalls under load. Hope this helps!
