Not doing your homework and finding out all the mods you have to do to bring in your new $40,000 truck across the border, and being told either fix it or leave it might qualify for an emergency.

Check with Bullydog... I know their fueling box lets you do all sorts of neat stuff like shut off the seatbelt warning... maybe it can enable the DRLs, or they can do something for you in that regard.
I suppose a short-term solution (though complicated) would be to wire a relay from the hot side of the headlight switch to the ignition switch, so the headlights will come on when you start it.

Its real easy for a dealer to enable. Go into the Canadian menu, enable DTRL.
That sure was a hefty fee they hit ya for. No warranty on the truck either.
When I bought mine in the USA part of the deal was they had to be on. I bought at a dealer. However, a friend bought private down there and the guy knew his dealer and they got it done for free.
Did ya make a good enough deal to save some money? Reason I ask is there are 06 Rams from Canada selling in SK for low 20's to high 20's. I just saw one with 48,000 kilometers, Laramie 4x4 quad 3500 dually sell for 27,000.
An 06 with 180,000 kilometers went for 22,700. Priced an 08 Laramie and with all the rebates its only 2400 more then buying stateside now. Factor in the lost warranty and the trip to go get it and its starting to look like the good deals are coming to an end down there. When I bought mine I saved 14K...but not now.

ya here in alberta 06s are going for around 32,000 with 140,000 kms and around 38,000 with 30 to 60,000 km i paid 25,000 and change canadian
with 23,000 miles so still a pretty good deal ...only time will tell how important the warranty is.... hopefully warranty wont be a probleme
