Daytime running lights ???
Hey guys, on my NEW/USED truck, 1992 W350, it has to have daytime running lights to entre CANADA.........My question to you is, With the US model truck, is there a sending unit that I can purchase and plug into the fuse box to turn them on ???? If so where is it located and can I order one from the dealer ??? Or is this something that has been specially built into the CANADIAN models ????? Please help.......
I don't know with dodge, but I assume that there is just something you plug in to make them work.
I know our dodge has DRL but I never investigated to see just how they work.
The other possibility is you could set up a relay activated by an oil pressure sensor to turn on the headlights. The advantage would be you wouldn't have the lights come on while you were waiting for your wait to start light, which might help a little on a really cold start. It would probably be a lot more work to do that way, though.

The short answer is yes it is a relay. I think it is under the hood. In all liklihood, the connector is there in U.S. market trucks as well because they probably only build one harness. I can't find my service manual right now
but as soon as I do I'll let you know where it would go. Or you could get one from Radio Shack (used to be able to anyway) but the factory module doen't turn the lights on until the wheels have made about 1/2 revolution. Rick

Yes there is a modual located on the pass side inner fender by the washer tank. It is controled by the speed/distance sender via the computer. Mine wont activate the daytime lights until the truck has moved a few feet. After that the lights stay on until the ignition is shut off. You can check for a dead end plug on the fender, but I suspect the computer will need to be changed to accomedate the module. The ealier suggestion with the relay on the oil sender is likly an easier job. Cheaper too.
Hey Canucktrucks. Email me and I'll send you a JPEG of the wiring schematic. I bought the 93 factory Dodge service manual and I believe it does show wiring and diagnostics. I'll go to the garage and check for sure, but I believe it does.
