chim alarm

the chime alarm would start bonging while cruising down the road, the lamp out light ccmes on,I stop and check, but no bulbs are out.The fix is to dip the bulb sockets in grease. Some of the 03 trucks had the bulbs installed dry. resistance builds up between the bulb and socket and the computer see's this as an open circuit causing the alarm to go off and lighting the lamp out warning light.

Re:chim alarm

Did you replace your taillamps with APC taillamps? Because if you did and got the original ones offered by them at the beginning of the year they would cause the same lamp out alarm but the lamps would work just fine. They finnally have come out with replacement lamps for them.

Re:chim alarm

The owners manual gives good directions to get to all the bulbs.Dunk the base in grease and re-install bulbs fixed the probablem for me.Probably your rear bulbs.

Re:chim alarm

Of course I'm sure hammajamma is referring to dialectric grease, not just any old grease, in case anyone doesn't know that.
