broken recirc door

My recirc door broke last fall. I removed the blower motor and pulled out the broken pieces, thinking I would fix it in the spring. We went on a mini family vacation, my wife complain that there was cold air coming from the vents on the pass side of the truck. I was sweating trying to keep her comfy. Since spring is coming and the dash will need to be remove to replace the blend door is there anything I need to check for the cold air problem? I'm a computer idiot, could someone in readerland post a link to the dashboard removal and blend door replacement procedure that was posted several months back? I did a search and came up empty-handed. Thanks

Search for "HVAC Door" or "Blend door" or "heater door" and your screen will be full.

Click on the search, then advanced search, then use the google search bar... it turns up a lot more items.

Their stuff works great and the recirc door goes in in less that 10 minutes without disassembling the truck.

The cold air is a result of the recirc door being gone. Here's one link

As already said, there are many threads on this subject. Good luck!

Mine broke last summer on vacation out west. I was in Leavenworth, Ks visiting family. I took it to a local dealer.
They quoted me about 5/6 hrs.labor with a total about $600 or so. The mechanic showed me how easy it was to remove the fan motor and reach in and remove the broken door. The problem arises if he is not able to retrieve the broken off piece. In my case I lucked out and the piece came out. The out the door total came to around $270 so I felt pretty good about the outcome. So, give it a go and see what happens.

Good luck with it

my dealership tech keeps a couple of these in his toolbox, he saves his time (which he is paid the 5 hrs for) and sells the warrantied parts...
