Recirc Door Problem - A Final Solution?

Well, has anyone installed that NEW improved recirculation door from DC?

It supposedly has rubber stops to prevent the door from breaking.

Has anyone seen this yet?? Or is it a myth??

mine is factory and is still working fine. Probably a stupid question but how do you know if it is broken or not.

I believe you'll only get warm air out of the passenger side.
Mine is stock with 26000 miles but I do turn tha fan down to the lowest setting before going from recirc to fresh or vice versa. I believe that's what breaks it, the high fan setting pushing a ton of air when the door moves.

What a thing to have to remember on a 40K truck!

I do the same, I make sure the fan is on LOW before I switch over the recirculation switch, I know it's lame for a $40K truck but that's the way it is...

I figure if the fan is set on HIGH, the air pressure can cause it to slam shut, therefore causing it to break.

Perhaps my recirc door is doing fine at 60K miles because I NEVER use it! I don't think I've ever moved the selector over there. Those that answered that their original is still working fine, do you use it?

Mine's broken, but I'm scared to death to go to the dealer (haven't found a tech I trust yet)

Yes, I use it. But here's some more info on the subject. When I first got the truck there was a popping sound when I switched to recirc. At the dealer for the required C02 flash update they also recalibrated the doors. No more clunk on recirc. I also turn the blower fan to a lower speed when switching.

Mine has been replaced twice. The last time the dealer also replaced the motor that operates the door. It is broken again. I took it in the day before yesterday and they said the motor has failed again and they will take care of it. Parts on order. They also stated they don't think the door is broken but won't know for sure until they tear and I mean tear into it. I have had terrible luck as far as damage goes when they had to remove the dash previously. Upon further thought make that anytime I have had work done at the dealer.

Mine broke at less than 4000 miles. That was about two months ago. So far the new one is working ok.
