Aux fan on condenser....Results
Before fan.. First off I live in Phoenix where its been around 112-115 lately. My A/C while driving on the freeway would get to 40 degrees in drivers side vent and stay there for the most part. In stop and go traffic it stays about 60 in same vent. If its been parked outside for a while it does take a while for it to cool down also.
After fan.. Freeway speeds the temp is still 40 degrees. In stop and go traffic the temp is down to 50-46, and if your driving around 35-45 mph it will go right down to 40 degrees which it never did before. Also if it has been parked outside it cools down much quicker now.
I bought a 16" fan made by champion I ordered on ebay for 40 bucks, I never heard of them before so I googled them and found that they have been around awhile and are popular with the hot-rod folks. It has a 2200 cfm rating it is about 3" thick so some modification to grill was needed to fit. I wasnt willing to pay for the more expensive slim line fans so this worked for me. It's wired with a simple relay tied into A/C compressor.
BTW I also have valves on the heater core hoses, that was done last summer.
Overall I like it especially how cold it gets while driving at lower speeds.
