No contest. The Cummins torque will prevail.

The weight of the Cummins over the gasser motor will allow the torque to plant on the ground. There is more to a tug-of war than meets the eye, unless those trucks have a load in the bed you stand the best chance.

All about weight, traction, and good technique... First guy to start to spin their tires will normally lose. You have an advantage in the Diesel due to weight, but if he puts a couple thousand pounds in the bed, he'll get the advantage... Additionally, whoever's trailer hitch sits up higher will give a little advantage, as you start to pull the person with the lower trailer hitch will start to be pulled upwards, taking weight off the wheels.

Don't people in the middle of the country have anything better to do? Tug o war doesn't prove which truck is better, it is just a good way to break parts.

The CTD gets far better economy empty or hauling than either of the other trucks listed, and will last 2-3 times longer. It IS the better truck. Why bother trying to prove it?

now what I would like to see is a CTD with about 1500lbs in the bed then hooked to both the ford and chevy at the same time... Now that would be some drivetrain strain ... Of course I said, I would like to "see it", not do it with my truck...

Maybe a good you tube video for someone that wants 15 seconds of fame...

Plenty of You Tube vids on Tug of Wars... And all advice I've seen and heard from those that have done it, but I wouldn't put my truck through that. I agree the Cummins is more than enough engine, and I don't think a Tug of war actually proves who has the better truck, probably shows who has the better technique.

That's what I love about the "my truck can pull yours" all it does is prove which truck has more traction. You could go take a John deer 200hp tractor with 8 tires and it'll drag your truck ti'll it's nothing but parts without a sweat, even though it has less power, is slower, is heavier ect. It's all about traction, almost nothing to do with power (maybe like .5%)
