Air Conditioning Issues

We are on a trip to Florida and my wife informs me of water dripping on her feet in the passenger foot well. The bottom of the AC/Heater box is wet but not overly so.

Not too long later she says its getting warm....there is a noticeable temperature difference between the vents on the passenger side from that of the drivers side. The drivers side is cold (normal) and passenger side warm but the truck doesn't have dual zone temperature controls.

The temp on the drivers side modulated normally with the temp control **** as did the passenger side but it was always warmer through the passenger vents.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Check and make sure your drip tube on the engine side of the firewall isn't plugged up. If it gets warm does the airflow seem to stop coming from the vents.....if so check and make sure the system isn't freezing up. If it is it's low on 134.

The drain tube is working. The air flow is normal and adjusts with the fan speed control. The same amount of air comes out of the drivers side and passenger side but the temp is considerably warmer on the passenger. side.

The "warmer on the pass. side" issue almost always indicates a low freon charge, but that doesn't tell us anything about the condensate drip in the floorboard. Have you verified that it's water and not antifreeze? It's possible your blend door is malfunctioning. Go through the mode selectors and see if you hear the HVAC doors moving properly. Any difference between "hot and cold" with the movement of the ****?

OK, here's what I have....

Drip is water, not coolant. Drain tube had a paper wasp nest that is now clear. This is most likely the cause of the water coming from the AC/heater box inside the cab.
Air temp goes up and down with the controls.
Air speed goes up and down with the controls.
Controls appear to work to select windshield, dash and floor vents.
However, temp is always warmer on passenger side when set to dash. Temp is warmer on floor when set to combination of dash and floor.

I still bet it's low on 134. Only other thing it could be is the blend door not being fully operational.....however you said the temps change when the dial is moved.

on my 05 model,

air was warmer on passenger side.

had system recharged, it was low on gas, system works fine now.

today, mama said it was much better and even turned down the fan and directed the ac vents off her.

if mama is happy, then everyone is happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was low on refrigerant.

Pressure test showed 30psi on the suction side and 235psi on the pressure side.

Added 134a until we hit 45 and 295 psi respectively on each side of the circuit on a 90 degree day.

I now get ice cold air on both sides of the truck with the temp at the vents sitting at 59 degrees.

Thanks for the pointers!

Not to highjack but my air was cold a week ago and now is blowing warm. I figured it is a freon issue. Is this something easy to fix? BTW my truck is an '06.
