Looked on the order form, plugged in the dealer number, put in my VIN and eureka! I have the same information my dealer has. I can keep up without making any calls.

Looks like we got in just in time, guys.

A dealer posted over on TDR that most of these trucks (esp any with a 6-speed) are on "BG: status until March. They're out of parts.

That means anyone ordering now is going to wait a month or so at least to get a "D" status.

And anyone ordering from a dealer with little allocation..good luck.

We should consider ourselves lucky we got in "under the wire" so to speak.

TexasZach - you REALLY squeeked in. You posted this yesterday with your second-ordered truck. If you had done this a day later, you would be waiting. What luck!

 

Ya Hoooooo Dealer just called and said I went to D status. He also said that we got in just under the wire because all diesel engines in stock are already allocated till the end of March like WEXMAN said in the last thread...

 

After reading about everyone's orders and VINs, I'm wondering why I have a higher VIN and yet ordered sooner than some of the others here. I guess I'll call again tomorrow and double-check that everything is as it should be.

wexman, I saw that over on the TDR also. After a few seconds of "Oh great, now I gotta wait" when I first saw the thread, a huge sigh of relief came when I read it. That was a close one.

It's pretty cool to be able to see some info on the truck. Make it that much more real.

 

I ordered my truck last Sunday (4 days ago) and it went D1 today. My dealer had some trucks on order and he changed one of the orders to match what I wanted. I didn't know how good he has treated me until I read some of the other posts about parts shortages and the like.

 

Fellas the wait is worth it. I picked mine up on Wednesday and it's great. I liked it so much I drove it 12 1/2 hours the first day I got it. I've got almost 1000 miles on it already. I know it seems like forever but the wait is well worth it. With the big grin on my face it's hard to remember what I was so frustrated about last week. The 3 weeks it spent in storage in Mexico getting a tan seen like nothing now. Happiness will come soon enough and even with the 8 week wait I'm happy I ordered it instead of buying off the lot, I got exactly what I wanted.

BTW I ordered 12/8 built 1/8 shipped 1/26 deliverd in St Louis 2/9. Another satisfied Tomeygun customer.

That site IS way cool. I just checked , and there is my VIN, etc. Hasn't been updated since last week though - still showing gateline schedule.

On looking at this again, I realized that the 800 number will STILL get you more info. For instance, when I spoke with the rep last Friday, and she brought up my name, and the ship date.

The info I see posted is merely the VIN, and the current status (which is "gateline") last updated 2/5 . Everything else was "NA".

She was able to tell me an estimated ship date, though (2/18), so obviously the reps have more info available to them than we can see here.

 

As I was looking at that site again, I thougt, is the general public even supposed to be on there? THat is a DC site. Then again, it is not password protected. I'm surprised, because there are schedules and VINs there.

Does DC assume they keep their dealer numbers secure? I ask these questions because I worked for a hugh corporation (Citigroup) and computer and Internet security was top secret. Only those employees with the proper clearance would have access to a site like that.

That being said, anyone on the "inside" (Tomeygun?) know how often it gets updated?

 

I don't know how secure they think it is, but here's an excerpt from the site:

"This permission extends only to those employees of your company who have been expressly authorized by your company to access DaimlerChrysler's network. You are to presume that all information and content on DaimlerChrysler's network is the confidential and proprietary property of DaimlerChrysler and you are not to disclose any of it to other employees of your company, except to those whom your company has authorized to have it, or to anyone outside your company. "

I'm thinking that they don't wnat us there.

Then they need to password protect it. Talk about a lack of security.

I'm reading about all the horror stories of how long people need to wait for their trucks via boat. Mine is schedule to leave Vera Cruz and arrive in Baltimore, MD.

Is there any way to switch to RAIL!?!?!?! I will blow a gasket if I have to wait weeks for me ride!!!
