Dealer says the truck is in kzu status. Any ideas on what this is?
I believe "KZU" is "Second Rail Arrival". You're getting close.

Why sooo long? Dealer allocation would be my guess?

Good heavens! That is a long time!

Do you have the VIN for your truck? Have you looked at the Insight Web site for updates?

This is now getting frustrating. I know that there are bigger things in life to worry about, but still.

Checked Insight again this morning. Yesterday, the Port arrival information had disappeared (was supposed to have been yesterday, 3/9), with delivery to dealer 3/22. These dates had been the "pushed back" dates from 3/3 and 3/15, respectively.

Now, this morning, its says 3/10, today, with dealer arrival 3/23. Like NJTackle, it gets pushed backed almost daily. Meanwhile, I'm racking up miles on my trade-in, and wondering when the next thing on it is going to break.

My dealer appears to be waiting on ALOT of Rams, 1500s, 2500s, and 3500s. I would think the dealer would be a little ****** too. Cant make money unless they sell vehicles, and can't sell if no inventory.

OK, rant done.

I feel for ya Scott....hang in there!

I'm seriously debating if the wait is really worth it. I never ordered a vehicle and now I know why - I have no patience to wait for it to arrive! In the past I always bought from the lot but thought I'd treat myself this time. Some treat!

It this goes more then 10 weeks I'm jumping ship….hell with this. Considering the issues I'm hearing about poor fuel economy, rear end howl, vibrations - I may consider a Ford (someone please slap me!!!)

I gues I can join the club as well. Mine seems to be on a rail tour of Mexico. I hope the truck enjoys itself. Its funny how the dates keep changing yet nothing seems to happen.

SSSSLLLLLAAAAPPPP!!! DON'T do THAT! Trust me, this slight delay is INSIGNIFICANT to the problems that my current ride has. Had two previous Dodge trucks (first one I ordered, took about 7 weeks, as I recall, back in '96) were both excellent, dependable vehicles. Long story as to why I went with the Ford, suffice to say, it was a gross error in judgement.

These possible minor issues won't leave you stranded, as my Ford has, a few times, in under 35,000 miles.

Our ship will come in. Hopefully....soon...?

Weatherby, I think that is a reasonable timeframe.

Out of curiousity , I checked Insight again, (now 4 hours later).

Just like yesterday (see my post above), the port info has AGAIN disappeared. Are we taking bets that when I log in tomorrow morning, dates will be pushed back again?

What the…..aaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea…thanks for the slap Scott. I guess I wasn't thinking rational with that Ford comment.

I checked other trucks coming from the Satillo plant and found a few with the same 'random date' issue. It appears their software automatically increments the date at 12:01 am. I don't know if this means the boat never left dock, it got lost, its having sea-traffic, or what. It suprises me how some trucks are so nicely tracked and others have few or incomplete entries.

I agree the Ford could he a bucket of headaches and this wait will be meaningless one day after we finally get our ride. Its just tough to bear seeing how poor DC's tracking system is. DC reps have no clue. Dealer has no clue. Nobody knows. I commented this to my dealer and he said it has gotten MUCH better. Years ago you ordered it and just waited till the truck driver rang your bell…almost no warning!

Cool E Mail from my dealer sales man today.

Al
Your truck went to shipped today so I think we are on target for around the 18th.

Ok guys cross your fingers and toes and every other thing crossable for me. Please!
Did I forget to say I waited for 120 day in 1991 for my truck and how great it was? 119,000 on the battrery before it gave up the ship, 122,000 before the brakes needed replaceing 124,000 on the muffler before it fell off. 24 mph on the interstate empty and 14 hauling 10,000 pounds of antique tractors at 70mph. Yup a great truck. If I still had it I wouldn't be waiting now.

What the HECK is he smokin'???

Eight days from Mexico to your dealerMichigan. OOOOOOKKKKKK.............

My truck has been shipped three weeks now, and is not even to Baltimore yet.

For all of us here, go into Insight with your VIN. Let's see what it really says.

Spoke to DC rep today. Here is what I got out of him:

- the website only gets updated about once a week
- the website is OLD information and can not be trusted, not real time, not an hour old, not even a day old
- they used to wait for 50 trucks before they do a move to the ship, but now increased it to 300
- it takes minimum 7 days to clear customs
- there is a big move happening today and tomorrow, he said they are "loading the ship probably as we speak".

So for all of you living in the northeast waiting for your truck, it might actually be leaving port soon!

I've just about given up on DC. I'm shocked on how poorly they manage their transportation. If I was a dealer, I'd be blowing my gasket right now! No way I'd put up with their antics on shipping and their etch-a-sketch tracking system. I just can't comprehend the fact they can build cars/trucks/VIPERS but can't manage transportation for their vehicles.

Oh well.....I was tempted to cancel my order and buy off the lot, but changed my mind. I deserve a new truck built the way I want it!!!! It better arrive clean, in tip-top shape with no problems and have a freakin bow on its hood with a gift certif. for 3 free oil changes!!!

But there aren't any on the lot to buy! They are all on the same ship. Incredible. You mean my truck, your truck, and all the others that were supposed to be in port by now, MAY not have even left Mexico yet??

I made the comment earlier also about dealers. Mine is waiting on a couple dozen HDs (per Insight). I imagine both sold orders like mine, and trucks for stock. If I were the dealer, I would be steaming mad also.

I have to reregister my current ride, and get in PA inspected in April; I was hoping to avoid having to pay for all that by getting my new ride in March, but, if what you say is true, we not see our tricks until month end, IF we're lucky. This really makes me a bit angry. Talk about a Keystone Kops delivery system. And it's not like these are inexpensive vehicles.

Thanks for getting this information for us.

On edit: OK, I've cooled down, and thought this through. First, just because there "is a big move today", doesn't mean there wasn't a "big move" two weeks ago when my truck, NJTackle's, and others here were "supposed" to have been shipped. Second, think about how fast these trucks move off the line. Three hundred trucks (I don't know their production rate, I'm guessing) is probably only a couple days work, especially if working 2 shifts. So, we *may* be better of than we think. I'm not going to hold my breath, though.

I don't agree with this. My Insight data changed on 2/18, when my truck went KZ, and lately, has changed within the same day.

This guy you spoke with may not neccessarily have all the answers, either.

How does a dealer run his business? A HUGE part of making money in business is effective inventory management. I don't know how they do it. Gives me a bit (just a bit ) of new respect for car dealers.

Do you think its 'live' data? I once thought it was pulling info directly from DC but now feel otherwise. They may download once or twice a day but its definitely not 'live' data (in my opinion). Once a week may be right…or may not. My previous post is just what the rep said…….I wish I could verify its authenticity but can't. We are all in the same boat and at the mercy of what we are told.

I printed out and tracked other trucks from my dealer and a few of them have the same ETA date as mine. They also have what appears to be an incremental ETA date, again same as mine. I am just floored there is no way to determine the location of the truck. I asked the rep if he (they) knew where it was. His repsonse is I don't have that information but do know it was built and is in KZ status. (Well duh....I can see that too). This doesn't mean the information isn't known, but that he doesn't have access to it. Apparantley neither does the dealer.

How many trucks can they fit on one 18 wheeler? Maybe they are grouping them together for delivery to the dealer. But that would be done in the Port of Baltimore, no???

I also wonder what program or database DC is using. When I call them, they have a hard time finding my truck with just the VON number even though that is all I need with the website. DC needs my name and truck body type, but prefers the VIN. Why??? What system are they patched into. Obviously its not as simple as that website.

Also, in the 6 times I've called them, they have never given me more info than what is found on that website. Interesting. I also get a different person with completely different skill and knowledge levels. One guy talks for minutes voluntarily offering information while the next one you need to pull it out of them like pulling teeth.

I agree…the logistics behind this is probably complicated, but it isn't rocket science either. I'm pretty sure they don't track these using a pen and paper log book. There is probably some SQL database or similar holding this information. If this website or DC's hotline has access and how often…..is yet to be determined.

Again…I sit back and wait…..and wait….and wait…..
