06 drivers side headlight has no dim
06 drivers side headlight has no dim
Ok, so I've replaced enough bulbs to scientifically determine it's not the bulb. All other lights work just fine. Jiggled the wires but no luck. Any ideas what to chase next? I did the hold-the-odo-reset-as-you-turn-the-key trick and got these codes:
C 447
S 125
, 283
Any ideas? 130k miles, pretty much stock everything. Thanks in advance.

Is this contagious?? I was just gonna ask about the same thing and saw this post. Only passenger side for me. I swapped bulbs and the good bulb from drivers side would not work on low beam on the passenger side.

My 04 has that problem.. usually after i hit some rough roads .. I found the problem in my truck is this nice 300 buck box that resides beside my fuse box. I pried it open and re soldered all the connections in it. It worked great till the following trip down more rough roads.

I'm sick of fixing it.. its been twice now.. Not sure i want to spend the 300 bucks to have it fail again..

My 2006 must have a different type of computer because I could not see anything like on the picture. I took it to the dealer, and they want $900 to replace the computer.
Needless to say, I declined. So is there a reason why I could not just run a wire from the working headlam to the one that doesn'tt work?

FWIW if anyone else runs into this. I asked the dealer to wire the light bypassing the computer. (me and electricity are not a good combination) Now it all works...even the delay where the lights stay on after the engine is shut off....So I'm not sure how the delay is implemented if the computer is bypassed.
They pry went from one light to the non working light. So the computer is still controlling the working light. Pretty easy to do if you want your harness all cut up. Right now i have a 2002 with no running light. So if im driving it at night i pop the hood open the fuse box and put a jumper in where the relay is suppose to go, should try and resodder that someday.
So I finally broke down and had my mechanic (not the dealer) replace the TIPM. This is not my daily driver, BTW, so I just lived with one headlight for a while. Anyway, the new TIPM resurrected by dim headlight so now I have two dim headlights.
However...
Now I only have one bright, no amber lights (parking, fog, whatever they're called), and I get intermittent check engine, ABS, and air bag lights. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the various problem lights, sometimes airbag is on for several trips, sometimes it's off for several trips, sometimes it only comes on for one trip. Same with the other two. Oh, and just for fun, every so often on startup my horn honks once. It runs fine.
My mechanic and I both question the "new" TIPM thinking there may be an issue with it. He said the dealer would have to check it out.
I broke down and took it to the dealer. They said they ran a diagnostic on the TIPM and it's fine. But I need new batteries (I am about due but I don't think electrical gremlins are helping), new headlight bulb, and a wheel speed sensor. They say the wheel speed sensor is the cause of the ABS light and low voltage is the cause of all else.
The fact that all this began when the new TIPM was installed is just a wild coincidence.
So I'll get new batteries and a bulb myself, and see if that fixes all but the ABS light. But I have to say my BS meter is pegged.
Any advice?

Yep, radio has worked like a champ through all of this.
Funny thing. I got the truck back, batteries are still weak, but now I get no indicator lights at all. No ABS, airbag, or check engine light. So far no errant horn honk either. I picked up some bulbs on the way home.
If they were going to flash it or reset it or whatever it is you do to those TIPM things, I wish they would have just told me as much.
Or maybe it was all just another coincidence.
