What does it take to run 13's?

Gotta love these threads... But I looked and didn't see anything.

Anyway, what is it going to take? For starter I'm going to do all the deletes and get a smarty. I'm going to do head studs for a peace of mind... Can a one ton mega cab run 13's with tuning alone?

Sorry I haven't gotten around to updating the sig...I'm picking the truck up on Saturday. 2007.5 4x4 mega cab 3500 Laramie automatic

Well, I think with the right tuning you may get into the high 13's. But I doubt the 68RE will hold.

If you need some help deleting, give me a shout. Im working in Carthage and staying right up the road in Marshall.

I got the truck. Noticed the dpf is cracked and the egr valve seems like it may be hanging up. Well I say that... It acted up 30 min into the trip home but after the 4 hour drive it cleared up. It doesn't matter all that stuff is coming off.

If I need any help I'll let you know Blake... Thanks for the offer. I used to spend a lot time in Carthage myself when I was a field mechanic for Halliburton. What dealer do you use? I may see about getting that dpf warrantied so I'll have a good one if ever need be. PM me if needed.

Man I had good luck with Patterson in Marshall changing my water pump with all of my mods. Good folks, they did me a good turn.

Go talk to Ms Patty (asst service manager) and mention that you read my article on DTR and she will be tickled pink.

Installed 5" tbe today and loaded smarty on #2... It sounds like a cummins with a vgt on it...a giant ****** off hair dryer. Not my favorite sound but it really isn't that loud. My 5.9 still had the cat on it without a muffler and it had 10x more drone.

I left a red light with a little boost and it lit up all four tires
like I was on ice through 3rd gear. Very happy with this truck! 6.7 > 5.9

Did you do all of what you wanted or are you still relatively stock , you have to realize you have a 8200 + pound truck and you want into the 13's . that will easily need at least 500 + horsepower if not more , I am pretty sure I am in the high 14's to low 15's and am at about 450hp

My 2wd quad cab went 13.9 fuel only and it was a hand full out of the hole with a stick shift. It had no traction at all! I have an air dog and a snow meth kit off that truck that I will be installing on this one. Along with the grid heater delete and intake horn that is on the way. I'll figure something out for the intake... I think I will leave the nitrous off of this truck. LOL

I really don't think making the power to run 13's will be a problem. Like Blake said the transmission may be a different story. If it goes I guess I'll be teaching myself how to rebuild a 68rfe.

good luck with this keep us posted , I have a MHP ll tranny tune with my 68RFE but am still reluctant to run it hard on level 8 on the smarty . level 8 gives me a 6.5 second 0 - 60 mph . that tune would get me into the mid 14's
