Unplugging the EGR
I have an 08 and have the H&S kit ready for install just waiting on my fooler box from PDI. One question I have is about the egr and what delete kit is best, or will the same results come from simply unplugging the egr? I have the edge juice I know it will clear the codes from the dpf delete but will it also clear the egr delete code that is thrown?
OK, let me just say I dont know jack about these trucks so this will probably sound like a dumb question. I have an 08 with the AD flash, I have never seen anyone mention this flash but that is the sticker on the box in my truck.
Anyway, what would happen if you just took the pipe off that runs from the exhaust gas cooler to the EGR valve on the intake and plugged it? Leave the EGR plugged in so the truck's ECM thinks it is doing its job, just dont allow the exhaust gas to be available. If the butterfly opens inside there will be no where for the pressure to go so it will just be neutural.

Have had mine unplugged for 3 weeks now. I have just made a trip from Philly PA to Greenville SC then on to Wichita KS. Pulling a 6x12 uhaul trailer from Pa to SC then just loaded with about 700 lbs truck only from SC to KS. Using Dodgezilla's advice about waiting for dings to finish before starting I was getting 17.4 lowest to 19.6 highest MPG. Hills in Chattanooga killed mpg. Still wants to surge from time to time but waiting for dings to stop help I think. I love the way it feels now tho unplugged. Also got my first kill in Kansas-city at 2:00am A new Powerjoke F350 pulled up next to me with my cruise set at 65 and he stepped on it and let off and came back next to me and laughed
then when he did it again,,, from 65 to 95 he got his smile wiped off his face by about 6 lengths. He didnt even try to pull up again till it was time for him to get off interstate about 20 min later, then he came up real quick shot me the bird and pulled off on his exit,,, this time I was laughing.
anyway thought I would share.

If the EGR is plugged in then it will want to see some positive pressure or you will have problems. Simply unhooking and plugging the X-over pipe does not work.
Dodgetracker, I too have noticed that the hills and mountains will kill the mileage. I guess we need a fueling box designed for mountainous regions....

is your are talking about? Thanks Mopar72
oh yea this 6.7 bone stock fills just as strong as my 05 6.6 with a pred set on 80 HP.Thanks

I had to plug my EGR back in the other day. Didn't make it threw the first tank of fuel before I started to hear a rattle at idle. I also felt some hesitation and stumble at low rpm's. I took her in after a few key cycles and the CEL extinguishing to see what flash I had. The dealer wasn't specific but they said I was up to date with the newest. I guess I'll have to call back and see what the flash really was...
I still have a low rpm hesitation so maybe I have another problem??
Cheers,
Ron

RatF16, you may have to pull the butterfly out of your intake in order to run this mod. Don't feel bad. I had to do it too.....
Mopar72, if you look down where the intercooler boot connects to the intake manifold(Drivers side), there is a squared box right before the intake itself. It says "Siemens" and "VDO" on it. Your butterfly flap is located right inside there.....

yup I have hit that hesitation and sputtering stage, did pretty good though, made it about 4 days, but as I was parking my truck at work this morning, I felt and heard it, it was like I was tapping the throttle on and off even in park it did the same thing, so obviously its not breathing, I have a trip to TN this weekend, I'm trying to move and I have a baby at the house so I may have to just plug it back in for now until I have time to take out the butterfly. Also it sure does take a lot longer to warm up, this morning, got in it let it idle for about a min as usual, then I relized I was at least 3 min at 60 mph, and the engine temp had barley moved from cold, it took almost 12 miles to finally warm up?? and my oil pressure is up as well, do you think this is bad? Thanks

Mine was tough to get out and I ended up having to drill through the screws that hold it in. It slides between two semi-flat shafts and I also destroyed one of those. I haven't seen a pictorial guide at this site but there is one posted elsewhere. PM me and I'll tell you where.....
The screws are peened over on the back side. Use a dremel or a small half round file to removed the flattened tip of the screws. This will allow them to be removed with little chance of stripping.
