Unplugging the EGR
Nope. Just getting a bit off track here....
You know, I got my weekly CAT FULL message this morning and when I read my codes there were none for the EGR. Only one code for each of the three banks of the Exhaust where the foolers plug in. That's strange because I thought I shouldn't be getting any of those codes anymore.....

It is strange Mike. . . I haven't driven it that much since I did the delete. But once I gave birth of the baby, everything settled down to normal. No messages
Something isn't right there. PM me your email address and I'll send you some voltage reading to take at the ECU.
That has nothing to do with the EGR delete
I've been getting codes like this since I did the deletes. Just not all at one time. I'll contact H&S if I have any problems due to this. I'm not too worried about it since the truck keeps running fine and mileage is still up.....
Just for the record,,,,, Removing emissions will not hurt the engine any more than it would if they never put it on. Even towing! Allowing it to breath, and keeping soot out is good for it.
Hey dodgezilla,
I had an interesting thing come up about my horn that you may want to know about. Make sure to add a rectifier diode AT the solonoid of the horn when installing it. Seems my edge would freeze up when I let off the horn as the voltage would send spikes through the system. Not that it will happen to you, but with all the electronics on the truck it sure can't be good for them. I added a rectifier diode and the problem went away. This after I confirmed over and over that it was caused by the horn. Now I can't repeat the problem. Just an FYI

You'll have to bear with me because I am new and you don't know me.
I tend not to get too technical on the forums unless I have too. There is also a thing called TMI, which I try to avoid. I also try not to assume anything. So if I sound like a Putz. . . Not really. . . 90% I know on this new crap, I just don't tell anyone. . . I have a life too.
I do love to Lab Rat stuff though. . . . While a few were running around with the EGR's unplugged, the question was still there, will it harm the DPF cats. I proved it would not. If anything, they are cleaner than ever. My next trick will be to put the primary cat back in in the flange and leave out the dPF. Then I will let the black box keep the regens in check. I'll look at it in another 8,000 miles then. When they fell off, they were clear as I expected with over 400 since last regen
I can't help you with the H & S. No experience

,,,,,AND LET ER BREATH!!!! Oh, excuse me, heemmm. Sorry, guess when you have two pre teen girls, a house to keep clean, 2.5 acres to keep tidy and running and then a small diesel shop too, which is where I really want to be all the time, it makes me a bit snappy!!!!

Start there. Then do a Cold Air Filter and remove the shield in front of it by the condensor. Then the DPF has to fall off. . . Suggest BADP for that. Total, that will give you 3 to 4 more MPG
2 to 3 mpg better is going to be much harder for you than for the 6.7L owners, dude. You already get better mileage than most stock 6.7L owners. I would start with a free-flowing exhaust (either a cat and muffler delete or a full turbo-back exhaust), a good CAI, and a programmer. If it were my truck I would go with a 5" TBE (for the sound more than anything else) and a Smarty and call it a day. I live in dusty conditions so a CAI is a no-no for me. Just my $0.02 but you might want to try the 5.9L section for more information on that kind of stuff. The "2007-Current" section is for the 6.7L crowd, the 5.9L information is in the "2003-2007" section.
The only things I ever found to raise mileage in my 5.9s were 40hp injectors, better torque converter, engine breakin and Quadzilla boxes. The Quads always gave me a 1 mpg gain on my 03 and 07 trucks.
