Unplugging the EGR
AR? flash
Actron scan tool says "AQ" flash. Was "AP".
Dealer said all covered under warrantee - no charge. The dealer didn't say anything about stored codes or any other evidence I had my EGR unplugged in the past.
Not my local dealer though, on the road at this time.

Hey, DieselLady, Can you get an ID/OD measurement on both the ends of the pipe that goes right in front of the muffler on your stock exhaust? That is, if you still have all that stuff.....
I still have it but it is all flanged now for easy R&R. But it is just standard 4" pipe. I straight piped it last year at one point and welded the flanges to it, so you should be able to just take measurements from a 4" pipe. My stock muffler is flared and fits over the non flared pipe on both ends. Hope this helps.
Not that I know of, but like I said, I flanged both ends of a straight pipe to install where the dpf and cat went, then flanged the tail end piece so I could easily remove and reinstall them if needed. That muffler is just a boat anchor anyway.
You get back in there and finish that thread. . .

Mike and I were both there from start, and the thread is still going strong. 84 pages. I did allot of testing, trying different things, inspecting, and a whole lot of driving while doing it. I had my EGR disconnected on this truck for over 6000 miles. Took the EGR off and inspected it, it was clean as a whistle. at 7000 miles, and about 400 miles since it's last regen, I inspected the cats. Clear as a bell. That tells me we can run with the cats in and just disconnect the EGR. I did some mileage readings. The EGR unplugged took the regens on the highway from 2 every 350 miles to one every 450. The savings of about 1/2 a gallon on regens.
Since Mike and I were two of the big King Pins of the thread. . . He'll tell you the phrase we said over and over.
Just unplug it and forgetaboutit

Just curious, as you'all seem to be the "guru's" and I'm not privy to the "other" site - are these towing miles you're testing with or empty?? Also, did anyone of you have any surging at idle problems?? Mine, with just the EGR unplugged, was having surging problems while in reverse @ idle. Now, it seems to be more frequent and also when going forward @ idle, like when slowing down for a stop. Have to pop it into neutral and then back in gear to get it to quit surging.
Scott, did you ever pull that butterfly flap out of your intake? Some 07s needed this done or the truck would have these problems. The first day that I did my deletes I had a surging/white smoke issue at startup. I started waiting for all 5 dings to finish before I started the truck and that issue has not come back. I did get a very low lopey idle one time when I put the truck in reverse but it only did that once and has not come back. I also get a CAT FULL message on occasion but it goes away with clearing the codes.
And Poloraco, I jumped on another EGR thread and tried to make it a condensed version with all of us inputting what we thought was important info we got from that marathon thread. This was so we didn't have to keep answering the same questions over and over....

I wouldn't say that. It was just more interesting for us as we were getting it all figured out over that 3-4 weeks. Not that it's done I guess it's just time for us to move on to the next obstacle. Maybe that's why I felt compelled to buy my new horn....
Just for the record,,,,, Removing emissions will not hurt the engine any more than it would if they never put it on. Even towing! Allowing it to breath, and keeping soot out is good for it.
Hey dodgezilla,
I had an interesting thing come up about my horn that you may want to know about. Make sure to add a rectifier diode AT the solonoid of the horn when installing it. Seems my edge would freeze up when I let off the horn as the voltage would send spikes through the system. Not that it will happen to you, but with all the electronics on the truck it sure can't be good for them. I added a rectifier diode and the problem went away. This after I confirmed over and over that it was caused by the horn. Now I can't repeat the problem. Just an FYI
