I'm thinking do or not to do
Ok I've been reading this forum for some time now and still not sure if I should do the deletes. I have unpluged the EGR, the light is no bother.
I started doing the math with the MPG spread over 50000 miles based on $3. a gal and gaining 3 MPG after doing deletes with Smarty jr and a insight monitor.
Cost $1000. for smarty, monitor and delete pipe. Fuel savings $1482.- cost= total saving in 50K $482. nice but not that big of a deal when you have to replace the stuff to get through inspection. If the price goes up to$4.00 a gal the savings will be net $1000. over 50K. The big question is will it really pay off in engine wear and tear ?

Pull your EGR tube off the front of your motor. Takes 5 minutes and a couple of screws and take a look... Even if it were not a beak even proposition or better, it should be done if you like your truck, plan on keeping it a while, and enjoy added performance benefits along with less long term problems. Going back is not that hard if you do the minimums like myself.
You don't eat off of dirty dishes do you? You could save yourself some $ on water and soap... Your truck is though :-).

Pull the cross over tube and you will freak.
Just imagine taking the used oil out the pan, cooking it down till its a pasty sludge, and then shoving it in your intake horn.
A picture of that should be included with all delete advertisements.
They wouldnt be able to make enough to meet the demand.

OK, I just bought a 2011, 4500 with urea. Can I still just unplug the egr and gain about 2-3mpg? Or because now I'm dealing with urea and a dif year model a few things have changed? I'm gonna do full deletes down the road a little ways. Just looking for easy free stuff now and things I can put together to get warranty work done if I need. Should I take butterfly valve out? What about making caps for that crossover tube? Thank you, I'm new to the 6.7, I have done a full delete with Smarty on my dad's 07.5

Is unplugging the new HO 2012 ok? To me it all still looks the same going back to 07.5 but wondering if anything in the ECM has changed code wise. Also it's winter here and good and cold out how does unplugging affect the truck in this case and should I wait till my trucks warmed up a little, turn it off and unplug the EGR afterwards?
