My friend has a six seven with the dpf delete with a five inch straight pipe. He claims while cruising on the high way his truck will randomly smoke, without accelerating. Any ideas what is going on? He's running a Smarty

 

Sounds to me like he has the wrong tune and it might be randomly going into regen

Does he have any codes at all.

The only reason I say that is cause when I had the edge it would do the same thing.

 

Well he has the s6.7 with the me software. He had codes prior to installing the kit, the after he has not had any. Truck has run great, better economy and no codes

 

Thats what I was curious about, if maybe he has loaded the S tune by accident instead of the ME tune.

Does he have any performance issues when that happens.

What do the EGT's do?

 

I personally checked for me software, no performance loss. No gauges yet only running on the lowest sw

 

Did he miss the plug for the throttle valve? That would cause this problem. You have to be sure to follow the instructions for the deletes to the letter.

We have the h & s delete kit but haven't installed it yet, deleted only the Def due to late shipping and work. Thanks

 

Thats the problem. The EGR is still cycling when you get those black puffs out the pipe. Black into the engine, black out.

Nah, itll be ok till you get it deleted.

 

lets us know if thats the fix, i remember having the egr on mine acouple days after the delete and itd roll the coal
