Actually you should be just fine. Thats the best thing you can do to a stock 6.7, give it a good workout. Youre gonna love the exhaust brake pulling that load.

Deleting and programming just makes it better.

On the back of the intake manifold there are what I assume to be two sensors. When I do the throttle valve delete, should I unhook or do anything with these?

That would be the MAP sensor and the intake air temp sensor. Leave them plugged in.

Blake, I want to say thank you for the work you put into the instructions at the start of this thread and your, and other's, advice while I was doing these mods. Without your help I would not have known where to start and likely wouldn't have attemped it. Thanks!

Also many thanks to Marco for his years of work on computer programs on these trucks and making the Smarty avalible. I remember reading some of his post's back in about 2001 on the old TDR site.

Hmm,, now what was that I read about a "Smoke Switch".........

Blake,

I was thinking about this thread last night, what should have been a 1 mile trip home turned into a 30 minute drive for a Regen .. Maybe after the first of the year...

First milage report after doing the deletes....

Before the deletes my last hand calculated tank of fuel was 17.8 mpg mixed in town and freeway, usual routine.

First tank after the deletes hand calculated 20.95 mpg running same routine, SmartyJr set to SW1. My overhead read 21.4 mpg, so it was pretty close to accurate. I know a bunch of short trips killed my potential, but I'm still very happy with the numbers.

I've now set it on SW3 for the next tank and will compare. Man oh man is it hard to stay light on the pedal. I did get on it very briefly rollin at about 35mph, and it put a big grin on my face. Even my wife smiled, and she would normally be the first to remind me that I'm pouring money out the exhaust.

No you have to pull the EGR plunger, and disconnect the appropriate harnesses. Its all lined out in the delete tutorial.

Yep, that is basically it. You don't need anything else except to swap this exhaust piece out and do the required disconnects at the exhaust and motor. And, add the programmer.

is it easier to take off the cross over tube to get the throttle plugged unplugged i cant see it but all you do is slide that piece over and unplug it isnt it i cant get the ones on the dpf unplugged either simple i know but its winning the battle
