What's the easy way to install a PS 62???

Got a PS 62/14 on the way. Should be here on Friday.

What the tricks to making the install painless???

Thinking it might be easier to just take off the 12 manifold bolts (got air and impact tools if need be). If I do it this way, is there an exhaust manifold gasket????

There is 6 manifold gaskets.
Yeah it might be easier that way if you have someone helping you hold it during re-install.

Make sure to torque the drain tube to the turbo before setting it back into the truck.

Took me and a buddy 6 hrs, i think taking the manifold off would save alot of time.

I have a friend that is going to be helping me.

I figured it would easier to take off the intercooler boot, the outlet/exhaust clamp....the upper oil line....and then the twelve bolts.

Sounds like a 12cm is in order for you.

I'd go for the 12 in your conditions. The last thing you want is for it to be lag on you too much.....you're gonna be hateing it more than enjoying it .

unless you are replacing the exhaust manifold
why are you taking off the manifold?

sounds like over complicating a fairly simple turbo swap

taking off the manifold is not necessary especially if you have a helper

the only thing you really need a helper for is to help hold the turbo on the manifold so you can get the nuts started

besides simply unbolting and bolting stuff
you will have to move your downpipe back about an inch
(exhaust housing is longer)

step 1- remove air box,and turbo
step 2- remove oil drain tube from stocker and install on ps62 using the new gasket
step 3- move downpipe back a little and leave loose from exhaust so you can mate it to turbo later
step 4- remove the two studs on the exhaust man
step 5 - dump some new oil into oil fitting on new turbo
step 6 - install new turbo using the studs from step 4 as bolts in outside two holes and supplied set screws as bolts in inside two holes(threaded holes in manifold) hook up rubber boot to intercooler (intake side)
step 7 - hook up downpipe and tighten clamps
step 8 - hook up air box
step 9- crank over motor and make sure oil comes out of drain tube
(the truck will probably start, thats ok but dont run any longer than necessary other than to make sure oil is comming out of drain)
step 10 - hook up oil drain tube
step 11 - clean up oil spill
step 12 - break in turbo
step 13 - give r gunny

if this takes more than 3 hours , you drank too much and should probably not procede with step 12 and 13 till morning
