What tranny mods to handle 1000ft/lbs
What tranny mods to handle 1000ft/lbs
What mods will be required to handle huge amounts of torque? I know about a billet torque converter and billet shafts. Any other mods suggested while it's apart? I'm curious why so many say Suncoast is the best? What about DTT? I want the tranny to hold up to twins and a TST on the higher levels.
Best....that is just personal preference. They are all good. The "best" option is to go with whomever is closer to you. Support will be much easier to come by if you ever have a problem.
With 1000ft lbs of torque, you need the entire tranny done, not just tc/vb/shafts. With that much torque, you will be shredding bands, slipping overdrive clutches in the overdrive unit.....generally just shredding the remaining stock parts over time with a better than average chance of taking out your new tc/vb when something lets go. I would get the complete upgraded transmission from whomever you decide to go with. It is spendy, but get-r-done....you only have to do it once.

ATS, DTT, and Goerend Bros. are the big three in built auto transmissions. The best thing to do is to read as much as you can on each of their websites, call each of them and ask more questions, and then finally go with the one you feel most comfortable forking over the $$$ to.
Each will have their proponents and opponents, but all of them stand behind their product.
The decision is up to you
