Weird misfire with Smarty

Hey guys, I did a search here and didn't turn anything up yet.

I just picked up my 2007 a few weeks ago and threw a Smarty S06 on it.

Every once in a while, when I go to start the truck it will make a loud rattle while turning over, and also take longer to start then usual. It will turn over for a half second, then BANG, then turn over a little more and fire right up. This has happened a good 10 times or so already. Other times is turns over for a half second and fires right up.

Also, while idling the truck in park, it will sometimes seem to have a misfire that shakes the whole truck. This has happened about 3 times, but you definitely notice it.

I am running the Smarty on SW5 with the 4.06 program (I think). I don't have the truck or programmer with me to check right now.

It has a lot of timing rattle when idling normally, so I just thought the advanced timing may be causing these issues. It does get incredible mileage and has great power so I am happy with it otherwise.

I had it without the Smarty for about a half a day and it didn't have either of those problems. It may not have been long enough to tell though.

try the even numbers and see if it goes away. It sounds to me like it should do it without the smarty though.

I'll give it a shot when I get it back. I was hoping it was something common or easy to fix but that's usually wishful thinking. The truck only has 10k miles too.

Thanks for the help.

Yep if it does ANYTHING before you get to play with it at all I would let the dealer handle it. I am my own warranty but ive put 80,000 + on mine.

Mine has done this twice recently with Smarty on SW7 which is used for daily use. Second time was kinda scary and I went back to stock a few weeks ago without any further occurence. Makes me wonder. I think I'll try to upload SW6 and see how that is. Can't stand the excessive timing rattle anyway.
