Warranty void if boost and pyrometer guages are installed?

Just got off the phone with the local Dodge dealership. According to the service tech, if I install a pyrometer or boost guage, I can/will void my warranty because these units require modification of the intake and exhaust manifolds.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Just checking...

Tell your tech to take a flyin' leap. That is a bunch of bull corn. I have heard of NO dealership giving any problems with JUST GAUGES. Now, engine mods, that is a different story. Find a different dealer.

Thats BS, period! Those modifications are for monitoring and not performance inhancements. Thats just one persons opinion.

have a Westach boost/EGT on my stock '03 HO and Dodge had to replace #6 injector under warranty. The dealer asked what kind of max temps while towing my 11200 lb 5er and if I used the EGT gage for shut down temps. They thought the gage was a great idea. Aftermarket items will not automatically void any warranty. Engine warranty can be voided if they prove the aftermarket item [ Westach EGT/boost gage]caused the problem.

Thanks for all the replies. But, I think the operative words are "requires modifications to the intake and exhaust manifolds". I realize the guages won't hurt the warranty. But, once you start physically tapping into the manifolds, the story becomes different (at least to me).

I cannot believe the dealers that are out there. Hell, my dealer PUT all of my aftermarket stuff on. That is rediculous that they are going to hassle you over something so meaningless. I say, go to another dealer and tell the that you are there SPECIFICALLY because of the incompetence of the other dealership. That will make them more likely to try and serve your needs.

I don't know if it is any diff. on the other side of the fence. But were I by a new truck every year. It does make you want to tell dodge to kiss your unowhat and purchase another brand. I love my dodge. But I can suffer for a year just to proove a point. Who knows, I mite like the other side of the fence better and dodge will loose a good customer that purchases more than average amount of vehicles.

My guages were installed by a dealer also. I travel for a living and have been to a lot of dealers in the western USA for oil changes. Most of them give me an attaboy for having the gauges there when they find out what I tow. Not a single one has said anything about voiding the warranty.
I think you are smart for wanting the gauges. I plan to add even more as time and money allows.

My dealer actually thought my 03 truck was cool with the stacked boxes and all the other stuff on it. They were amazed at the power....

I bought an '04.5 dually brand new in late '04. The dealer had installed a pyro and boost gauge, as well as a set of stacks.
