Will Banks products void your warranty?
Will Banks products void your warranty?
I have a psd, please no flames. I am considering a chip and exhaust but dont want to loose the warranty. I spoke with banks and they said their products do not void warranty. Is this crap or has anyone had experience with them coming to bat for you. I want to know if dodge were to void your warranty, would banks help you out. The banks guy said "we would call the dealership and get it resolved. What do you think?

They will not void your warranty. I have been in talk with banks about selling there products in my online store and I have done research on this. The only way there products will void your warranty is if the product brakes something on the truck.
Adam
A chip or a fueling box on a PSD or Cummins voids the Drivetrain warranty supplied with the afore mentioned vehicles if the dealer discovers these modifications and decides to void your warranty.
Infact, on a Cummins engine it says right on the Dataplate located on the Gear case "Engine warranty is void if rated fuel rate is exceeded" or something to that effect.
If you are willing to run more power then you are willing to possibly lose your warranty coverage.
Dont believe the Banks bull#$%.
Adam,
I have done a little reading myself and I work for Cummins Engine Company, and I know what I am talking about on this issue.

Bank$ "warranty" claim uses the Magnesson-Moss warranty laws as a cover.
The law states the the Dealer cannot void your warranty unless they prove that the aftermarket part has caused the damage.
In real life: the dealer voids your warranty (D/C's warranty documents state that increasing fueling or engine output above stock will void your warranty), and you get to hire an attorney and take Chrysler Corp to court to try to get it overturned.
Who has the deeper pockets?

In Short: "I Am My Own Warranty Station."

Codes here and there could show up when the dealer checks for codes logged into your PCM or ECM.
But, that does not prove you have had a fueling enhancement hooked up to your engine.
Really, proof would be tapping a wire or actually seeing the box installed on your truck.

Re:Will Banks products void your warranty?
???Don't believe everything you hear from Banks. Last summer I put a powerpack and brake on and left on vacation five weeks later. The truck made it about 10 days before the transmission went out (at 32,000 miles). I was in upper Montana about 30 miles from the Canadian border. Dodge roadside service took the truck east into the plains and we were taken west to a campground. The Chrysler dealer voided the warranty as soon as he saw the guages on the piller (before it was off the tow truck !!!). I contacted Banks and they called the dealer but with no results. Banks contacted me and said to just pay the bill and try to get your money from Chrysler later with our help. They'd been having alot of "trouble" with Chrysler lately. We followed those instructions and one week and $4000.00 later we were on the road home. Once back we contacted Chrysler (no joy). Then we contacted our dealer of purchase. The service manager was very helpfull until they fired him 3 weeks later. The new service manager sent us a letter saying any modification to the truck most likely will void the warranty. Sorry we can no longer help you. We then contacted Banks. Their "help" was to write us a letter that basically said "...we dont think Chrysler should have done that. Hope this letter helps......". Soon after that the information on how the Banks products don't void your warranty was removed from the Banks website!!

Bottom line is your on your own. I don't have the money to fight chryslers legal team so I now have a truck that won't carry my RV without a major transmission upgrade.
Re:Will Banks products void your warranty?
The exhaust won't void the warranty and the chip can be easily unplugged before it goes to the dealer. I have 60k hard mile on my Banks PSD and 0 trouble.

Is this a trick question :
. Let me guess, Banks preached and sent you a copy of the Magnuson Moss Act. This topic was heatedly discussed awhile back on the TDR by Mr. Banks (or his associates) and the TDR. Bottom line is once you do any power mod to your engine, your engine and drivetrain warranty are at the mercy of the dealer, regardless of whatever crap Banks feeds you!!!!

Kind of sounds like the same load of BS ol' Dr. P used in his selling pitch :
