Question Remove Bed- Void Warranty ??

Was told last night by a friend who is looking to buy an 04 4-door and put a flatbed on it. As of 11/03, Removing the bed VOIDS the warranty. Has anyone else heard this? Maybe Luke has the answer.

Can you get a cab & chassis from dealer?

If you can't, then how are you supposed to add commercial beds - or is that the intent, to jip commercial users out of warrantee?

I kinda like the swing down sides style of bed on the Home Depot loaner truck (usually a Chebby gasser 3/4 ton). Does GM or Ford make the same threat?

Is this like a permanent removal? I'd be interested in this----can't figure why that would be voiding any warranty??????

Guess I'll have to do some research into it.

On KBB.com I found the box delete:

XBC Pickup Box Delete
(N/A w/Trailer Tow Group-AHC, Tonneau Cover-CSU or Bed Liner-XME or XMD) (Req's Single Rear Wheel Group-AR9 on Models w/8' Bed)

-352.00 invoice, -400.00 retail.

You can not do a box delete on a dual wheel?????

At the dealer I do buisness with they asked me if I wanted to leave off the box bed. I've never heard of that voiding the warranty. Something does not sound right about it. DC knows that a big part of their truck market goes to commercial use.

Dodge has a TSB about aftermarket beds and the lamp out being on. Why if there was no warranty would they issue a TSB?? Doesn't sound right to me. Is this dealer full of it??

dealer sounds as full as the ones that will tell you an aftermarket 4" exhaust will void the warranty

Couldn't do it when I ordered this truck. They delivered it with the box attached. Then I had to take it to the shop for the aluminum bed to be attached. I got to take the 3500 bed home on the flatbed. It sits out in the backyard filled with posies!
