Well Texas is one of the few if not the only that does allow deadly force in protection of personal property and in some cases property of others. There are some "retreat if possible" statements in some sections that could be misinterpreted. I believe that there is a bill up for vote in 2007 that removes most of the "retreat if possible" statements as they apply to private citizens in legal possession of a gun. But then again these are laws written by mostly lawyers so making accurate interpretation is hard for the layman, or at least me. I will still shoot first and ask questions later.
My house was broken into by a group of 4 that were seen, descriptions given, vehicle description with license plate. Neighbors later confirmed that two of the suspects lived near by. I tried for over two weeks to get an investigating officer to come out and talk with me and my neighbors. I was on the list to be assigned an investigation officer, a week later the police called and said the 4 were arrested and that they would not need to pursue my case against them. I said "WHY?", because they were arrested last night for capital murder during the commision of an agravated robbery. I will not be the dead one if I can help it.

I do not want to change the subject, but I was under the impression that the 2005 Dodge came with a alarm. If my truck does not have alarm, than my question is what kind of alarm is installed if any?
I have also had a break in with my wifes car couple of weeks ago and right after installed a alarm.
Tis the season for the theives.

Well, I stumbled on an old theft thread in which they mentioned they they get in through the door handle. So, went out for another inspection on the passenger side where they had got in and had to look REALLY close but sure enough I can see the small paint chip and extremely minor scuff to the plastic. Probably just a small screwdriver.
Inspected further to see if perhaps they jacked my handle up doing this but it seems to still function perfectly and have to look really close to see the plastic is seperated from the sheet metal by a couple mm's. Went to compare it to the drivers side expecting to see a perfect door handle and crap ola ... they apparently had started on the drivers side and had a little trouble. Dented the sheet metal slightly and handle is seperated probably 5 mm or so from sheet metal at the one end they were prying at
. It still works perfectly but now that I know it is there I am
.
THESE THINGS ARE FREAKIN MADE TO BE BROKEN INTO ... WAY TOO EASY ... VERY POOR DESIGN !!!!
I do now realize this is the first vehicle I have that does not come stock where the car horn honks on entry if locked or after a delay. I also remember when purchasing that they asked me for like $500 or something rediculous to activate the "alarm". I just assumed this was a more full functional alarm and that I still had the horn thing so said NO NO. My wifes $20K mazda has the horn thing and a big bright flashing theft LED that blinks for $0 ... come on Mopar !!! Viper being installed next week.
