Pinion walked out of the casting?
A while ago I posted about a 2003 CTD that destroyed the front axle. This truck struck a snow-buried stump that caved in the front cover and locked the ring gear.
It looks to me like the pinion gear then climbed up the ring gear until it broke through the top of the third-member casting. (Is the direction correct?) In any regard, a LOT of torque ended up going somewhere.
