Which tuner/reprogrammer is right for me?

Ok I have an 06 auto 4x4 diesel and i want to tune it up a bit soon but need help picking the best tuner. Now i know everything thinks theirs is the best, but it might not be right for me. So far I like the edge juice with attitude the best, i want to be able to moniter my egt's, boost, etc. and on the fly adjustments. It also has a built in turbo timer so i def want that. currently i have the banks air intake with super scoop, and am about the add the banks monster single exhaust. I also really want to be able to have a lot of black smoke as thats always fun and a crowd favorite. What do i need to buy for all of this, o and i dont plan on upgrading the tranny any time soon so nothing too too crazy. thank you

If you want maximum power and performance, smarty is the way to go. Your tranny will last depending on how you use your right foot.

I agree with the Smarty...

But, if money is an issue, keep your Edge if you already got it...

Put your money towards some tranny and fuel upgrades...

Then, as you get some more funds, you can get a Smarty and some gauges, and you should be ok after that!

I was going to buy a timer but was talked out of it by the guy I was gonna buy it off. Towing my trailer I pulled off the highway for fuel, it only took about a minute of idling for the egt's to come down, so I really don't think a person needs one.

As for programmers, the Smarty is sposed to be the end all and lotsa people that have them will tell you that, but I'm more than happy with my Bully Dog Triple Dog. It has more programming features and is adjustable on the fly and gave me close to 450 hp. You can pick up a used one for less than half the price of a Smarty.

I'd recommend separate analog gauges rather than any of the "all in one" units.

If your looking at the Edge look at the TST R49AP also, but if your build date is 6/06 or above it will not work!
It has all the built in stuff your looking for and a cool down feature as well!
Check em out at http://www.tstproducts.com .

I have to say smarty also...I've been in trucks with superchips, bully dog and edge....and to me I liked the smarty the best and now with the option to change power on the fly...it seems like a no brainer.

I think in the end, unless your going to get crazy, you'll probably be fine with whatever you choose asuming you not like the marjority and will want more power...:-)

good luck.

You will get lots of smarty votes, but I will say for what you are wanting go with the juice with attitude. It's a great package and has built in safeguards. Look in the classifieds, you can find them from time to time for around 500.

Smarty and gauges. You can get the edge, but you will probably end up regretting it, especially once you do upgrade tranny and stuff. Doing it right the first time costs a little more up front, but saves in the long haul. Tac
