transmission fluid capacity??
transmission fluid capacity??
I have a Goerend tranny on my 05 that I am going to put a Mag-Hytec double deep pan on. My question is how much tranny fluid will it take to refill with the new double deep pan? Thanks
My DTT tranny with Mag Hytec DD pan holds a total of 18 qts, including torque converter. Just changed it a few days ago. Bill at DTT also recommends one can of 'red lube gard' along with it, and I'll bet Dave does also.
Depends if you drained the tc. I have a ATS deep pan and when I installed everything new, it took 20-22 quarts, if I remember correctly.
I'd start with 16 qts. and check, you know to e-brake, nuetral with eng. running, (just in case) don't mean to offend. One of my neighbors was check ing his the other day, he wasn't on level ground- didn't have the eng. running. He said it was full, I corrected him.

how do you drain the TC? This is my first auto ever so I am a little dumb when it comes to the auto part of it. Will it be obvious to me how to drain the converter when the pan is off ? Thanks guys.
You can access your TC drain plug(assuming it has one) from the small access cover on the bottom of your bellhousing. You may need someone to bump the engine until the plug roates around to the bottom.
Draining the TQ Converter can be a pain. I drain my DD pan only and replace 11 qts ATF.
That replaces about 50%. I do that @ 20,000 miles! Cheap insurance for expensive tranny.
