Those with boxes

Hi there folks. Got a question that has been stuck in my head. Those of you that run boxes on your trucks, do you wait for the truck to get to normal operating temps before switching to the box? Was just wondering if there are any ill effects if we run these things on a cold engine. Me, for whatever reason, I wait untill its warmed up before I turn on my quad. Just wondering what the rest of you are doing. Does it matter?

Thanks..

I'm pretty sure that the Edge Juice has some cold engine protection built into it so it's not putting the full amount of power to the engine until it reaches a certain temperature. I'm running the Bullydog Power Pup so I can't turn my off. However, I don't rail on mine when it's cold, so I think I'm in good shape.

The Juice/Attitude does have safety protection for cold engine. It only applies full added power after engine is at normal running temp(around 175* or above I think). I think it does perportional until then.

I am very careful with my throttle and driving until I see the temp gauge at 190*. No hard throttle and try to keep below 2000rpms.

Nonford - when I had the quad box I'd always leave it on stock until I reached full operating temp.

The juice has cold engine protection which applies power gradually as engine temp increases, which eliminates the effort of having to constantly flip the switch. I leave my juice set on +100hp and never touch it. I'm going to guess that since edge built this feature into the juice, there is at least some merit to the theory of running at or near stock settings when the engine is cold.

I leave my boxes on all the time. I just drive passively until reaching operating temperature.

I think the edge juice and the banks setup don't apply power until temp is reached.

I am leaning towards the juice as I beliveit is lower fuel pressure, I like the attitude better than the pda, I can get a juice cheaper.

My wife has a lead *** foot and I would prefer to idiot proof the box.

Dodgezilla has the right idea. I've heard from many of the members and I have checked this out with Diesel repair shops and most head gasket problems occur when running your truck hard before it's in full operating temp zone which is why I suppose Edge and probably others mechanically control that feature through their engineering.
