Tool Boxes?

I want to buy a new tool box, I currently have 4 small tool boxes and want to get 1 big rool-away. I went to Sears and they mad me mad, Didnt want to help me at all! Guess they lost there commision from me. Does any one have the NAPA brand? They look real nice. I looked at a Husky box at The Home Depot Store, Any ideas about it? What does every one have and how do you like it? Send a picture if you can. I don't want a snap-on as i don't want to spend more than $1000.

Jon

Re:Tool Boxes?

Love to help but what kind of tool box are you looking for? Truck box? I have the Husky Deep Truck tool box from Home Depot. It's ok, that's about all. I couldn't afford much and the price was reasonable. There's better models and brands but these things are so individual. For serious tool box, being an electrician, my tools aren't cheap, I had a welder friend weld up a gang box out of heavy gauge steel. Heavy critter. What do you want, pretty or functional? There's truck tool boxes that have fuel storage underneath and a shallow tool box on top. What are you lookin' for?

Re:Tool Boxes?

Well as a Diesel Mechanic by trade I need a Roll-away type. I have lot's of tolls and no place to store them good. Have to work out of 4 tool boxes is not that easy. It needs to be 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide and 24'' deep. You know, Just like the pro's use! 4 tool boxes work good if you move around a lot, Worked great oversea's. Had 5 but one fell out of a Black Hawk in April.

Check the classified ads in your local newspaper.
Sometimes you'll find Snap-On boxes at Craftsman prices
Localy we have an area-wide classified book that comes out once a week called "The Want Ads" for sale at convience stores.
Many good deals in there.

The Husky boxes are pretty good. If you buy one of Mac Tools' "economizer" boxes you are getting the same exact box as a Husky, just a different name tag and a higher price if it says Mac.

John

Re:Tool Boxes?

A lot of the lower lines on toolboxes are made by one company "Waterloo" There is nthing wrong with these boxes, they are great for a home sho, but they wont stand up to being used every day.

Here is a link their website Waterloo Toolboxes

The Napa and Craftsman are the same thing as is the Husky boxes no difference in either one.

The best boxes are Matco, Mac, and Snapon but you're going to pay at least $1,300 to get one of them unless you buy a discontinued model. I bought my Matco box for $1,800 and it was a discontinued model. It's 54"x24" and 42" tall.

Hers is the big three's websites:

Matco Tools

Mac Tools

Snapon Tools

In my opinion I would go with the best deal you can find but deffinently get roller ball baring guides. Buy the biggest box you can afford, because if you're like me there is always a tool that you see that you just gotta have.

Re:Tool Boxes?

Anyone look at the Kobalt brand at Lowe's. I know Kobalt tools are made by Williams which is the same folks as Snap on. I have some Kobalt combo wrenches and really like them. I'd get Snap on, but can't afford them.

Charles
