Question Waterloo Tool boxes

Anybody on here have or use a Waterloo box on a regular basis? I need to expand my tool collection some, and need more room than just my Craftsman bottom chest. I'm looking at the Shop series middle chest and top chest. Not top flight, but I'm not trying to make a living with it, just work on my own stuff. Any reports welcome.

Does Waterloo sell "Waterloo" brand? I was under the impression that Waterloo made Craftsmen. Or maybe Kennedy made Craftsmen. Actually, Kennedy and Waterloo might be the same company? I don't know for sure... I have a Kobolt tool box from Lowes and I think it was made by Waterloo. Good box, just spring for the ball bearings.

Just to bring up the "who's who" question...

Waterloo makes the Kobalt boxes for Lowe's. As far as the rest of 'em, I don't know. Kennedy and Waterloo are different outfits, although they make a machinists box with the brown textured finish, looks just like Kennedy and all the others.

The Craftsman and Waterloo boxes are of a different design. Waterloo does make boxes for John Deere.

I'm going to take an educated guess and say that Waterloo has made boxes for MANY different "name" brands. I'm suprised that the first one mentioned wasn't "Snap On". My new (1 yr. old) Craftsman Box is a Waterloo. You have to look to see the name ANYWHERE on these boxes, they are pretty good about letting you think they are actually made by the company with the badges slapped all over them. I can tell you that my mid grade (non- Professional, but with the full extension ball bearing drawers and grip locks) 40" wide unit has served me very well. Paid a little over $900.00. I would recommend the Craftsman (better ones, not the real cheapos). A mechanic buddy once told me that Waterloo makes them from $120.00 to $12,000 for the 9 foot long stainless top mothers.

I love mine. Got a nice set from Farm & Fleet in Davenport years ago. Taken some pretty serious use years ago, have held up well just storing my tools for the last few years. As mentioned, get the good ball bearing extension slides and you will be very happy.
