Smarty JR without gauges?
I know the add says safe without gauges. But is it really? I assume most of you guys that have any kind of box or programmer have gauges, but would YOU run this without? I really, really like the clean factory look. I had gauges on my last truck, and I hated them, but I had to have them for the mods. My truck is bone stock with a K&N cold air, and I plan on getting rid of the cat this spring. Other than possibily a JR I would be done modding the engine. Thanks

while i had the jr i would really have to work to get to 1200 deg. maybe at 90 mph. when you got your foot in it. I think it would be fine without gauges.

I dont think you need gauges with the jr, I know others will say you need gauges even stock. Ive towed with the jr and run all 3 setting during the last year without any issues. You will be fine without them

I agree, mine has never got over 1200*, the only time it gets close to that is holding it to the floor up steep long hills.
I havent towed much weight, but if I did that I would want gauges.

My truck stock would hit 1400 degrees or higher while towing up hills here in Colorado, I would have to back out of it. With the Smarty Jr. I have a hard time hitting 1300 degrees on the same hills, and I don't have to back out of it any longer. I guess what I am saying is you are safer with the Smarty than you are stock without guages. ( at least with my truck)

I had gauges stock, so that tells you my thoughts... but
Over the last year with the Jr on SW1 I have only seen 1250*-1300* a couple of times when towing thru the mountains. (My dad has an 06 and has only seen 1300* a couple of times too)...
So you are probably fine, thou I wouldn't tow on SW3 w/out gauges.

Gauges never hurt and most dealers dont mind them. If they give you crap just tell them you're protecting your investment. A quadzilla commander is just another option if you are not a fan of the analog gauges. You could dash mount it and take it out when you dont tow.
