Smarty Jr setting?
Count me as another new Smarty Jr owner. I'm currently running SW3 with default settings for TM & TQ and PoD at 80. With the exception of losing my overdrive lockout (TSB 21-006-07) I am pretty happy.
However there's one thing that I'm not completely clear on; What are the TQ setting with CaTCHER version 5.13a ?? I have seen posts that say TQ2 is the most "aggressive" (builds the most torque at lowest RPM) and ones that say TQ4 is "wild"... so which one is it?
Have the TQ settings reversed order over the course of Smarty development?
Thanks

Have you read the documentation that came with your JR? It tells you what all the settings are. I know it's kind of cryptic but if you concentrate a bit you can figure it out. I'm running default SW3, I like it a lot. I havent run enough fuel throught it yet to determine the milage. But I was getting around 14mpg around town before so I don't think it could be any worse!

My Smarty has 5.13A in it and I bought it last week directly from Bob Wagner.
Based on my seat o' the pants testing it feels like TQ4 builds torque faster and at lower RPM.... but it would be nice to have the definitive answer. Anybody?
The users guide is the same today as it was in 2009, from what I can tell. Page 12 has the details on tq management.
1 is stock, 2 is strongest, 3 is weaker, 4 is weakest (other than stock)

YES, I read the Instruction Manual that came with my Smarty cover-to-cover... there is not one single word in there that describes the Torque Management settings.

Hmmmm, this is on a seperate paper included with the manual:
Torque Management:
# 0 - Default
#1- OEM Stock Torque Management
#2-Mild
#3- Less aggressive than # 2
#4- Less aggressive than # 3
Just goes to show how accurate your seat of the pants dyno is LOL

Arghh... apparently I didn't get the "separate piece of paper" either.
I did try out all of the TQ settings and what I can tell for certain is that (with PoD at 99) my truck now becomes traction impaired at half-throttle... and also the a*$ in my pants-seat is getting old...

Anyway, with 6+ minutes between each of the joy-rides (JOY is an understatement!!!) it wasn't obvious to me which was more or less "aggressive".
Now that I have had my FUN the goal is to gain a little more power, a little better fuel economy and a long lasting transmission. With the SW3 and PoD at 80, I hope/think that's what I'm getting. After this tank of fuel I am going to give SW1 a shot to see the MPG difference (not expecting any).
Thank you for the link to that manual on the MADS site AH64ID!!! Obviously the one I received from Bob is older than that version... not sure how/why that happened.
Cheers

If you can keep your foot out of it you will get the best economy on SW3 TM4, TQ4 and PoD 80 will keep the trans happier.
If you can't keep your foot out of it run SW1 TM4 TQ4 PoD 90.
Also, running TM4 don't extend your oil change intervals beyond 7.5K and be sure to run a stratapore oil filter or better.

I really like v21, but I miss being able to black out tailgaters like I could with the 5.08...Dont get me wrong, Im not one of those fellers that black out every intersection, but I cant stand a tailgater...and now I cant make them back off
