The point to my post, and Johns, is that there are more options out there than one-- and F1 doesn't have the market cornered on billet cams... it pays to shop around and ask questions!

It is like $750 for labor (I like the guy and trust him). I am not sure what to do. It would be cool to have this stuff installed w/the springs.
Thanx again guys.

I run the sheid cam in my truck and really like it. I have never heard of a reground cam breaking in any truck unless it is a P-Pump truck. p-Pumps are expecially hard on cams and require you to have a billet cam. These common rails are very easy on cams. With my 66mm Spoolup is almost instant. Also egts are only up around 1350 at 100+mph. Helix is a good cam but I think a regrind is perfectly fine. With abuse any cam will break Don has had one of his cams break but was under extreme abuse and was blackmailed for a new one. You will not have a problem with either cam. Now when it comes to injectors Don is the only man to talk to.

A reliable source told me to stay away from the regrind cams. If I get a cam it will be from F1. I do feel that scheid has some mean 12v trucks that pull and do very well. as for the common rail they are not the leader in that market.

I had the exact opposite impression of Scheid. I spent WAYYY less than 20,000 and Dan Scheid gave me his cell number to call him if I had any problems. He called me a couple of times to make sure all was good with my truck.

I don't begrudge any company from making a profit, if I feel a company is asking too much for the work, it's my propagative to shop else where.

If you're going to accuse Scheid of anything, it might be that Scheid charges a premium for their work as would any top engine shop! They have a track record for building engine programs that win.

I am under the impression that there is not a billet cam unless you have your block bored and have a cam bearing installed in the back of the block. The only people that run these are the big boys like Schieds and Haisley. There are new blank cams, but not true billet. If it is true billet it also requires billet tappets as well. This setup is way to much money for the average joe daily driver. According to F1's website, the bolt on cam gear does two things. One it stops the gear walk at high rpm's. Two it ties the front of the cam into the part of the cam that goes through the block to ad support so it will not break from hard running p-pumps. If this is not correct, let me know. Tim

You're Scheid's customer, maybe taking up the issue with Scheid would yield better results than bashing them on a website. JMHO

Scheid won't come here to reply to your complaints. At least I haven't seen it yet...

Good luck with your truck.

I don't believe what I've said has bashed them at all. I've only stated my experience for buyers to beware . I also have tried taking it up with them but, being 500 miles away makes it pretty difficult when they don't return calls.

Don't get me wrong... Scheid has been in business for over 25yrs and that says a lot. Dan has likely forget more than I'll ever know.

You're right, I'm not the one to say when someone is bashing a company, that's up to the moderators and owners of this site.

I'll just say, Sorry you had problems that couldn't be worked out privately.
