Question Remote Start Question

Anybody know of a remote start that will allow you to use the manual high idle feature? How about the heated seats? Kinda' defeats the purpose of the remote start if i have to go out to the truck to turn these on.

The remote start - starts the engine. It's nice to get into a truck with a warm cab but sorry it doesn't turn on you heated seats. I guess you'll have to ask your husband to do that for ya...

remote starter

do not ever put one of those things in your car or truck.I have a small auto repair shop and i will not install them for people.I cant tell you how many people come to me with problems because of remote starters, ranging from doors locking at inappropriate times to no starts.trying to find a wiring diagram for troubleshooting purposes is next to impossible.trust me,dont do it.

I went to a local shop over a year ago to ask them about remote starters. They said that it is possible to turn on the seat warmers with the remote so long as it has an auxilary feature (or something like that), but I didn't ask them about the high idle.

Now I never had it installed so I can't speak from experience (hopefully someone can chime in on this) but from what I was told it is possible.

Don't listen to the nay sayers, because if they're installed right then you won't have a problem and it'll be one of the best mods you're ever done. Just find a reputable shop to do the work (not Best Buy etc) and you'll be one happy camper

The key is finding a reputable shop to do the install, I have installed hundreds of remote starts and have had them in my personal vehicles for over 10 years, with no issues. I have even installed remote start safely on manual trans vehicles (look up clifford G4 remote start). I have easy access to many different sources for wiring diagrams so Im gueesing the small business you own could be your limiting factor.

It is true that the seats can be activiated via the auxilary channels. Like I stated before the key is making sure that it is a REPUTBALE shop that is doing the work and that they are capable of ding the install.

Ive owned 9 vehicles now, all with aftermarket remote starters... never ever had a hitch. Im in alberta where its cold and i leave my dodge run on remote start for a hour just to get the windshield defrosted, High idle automaticly comes on. remote starters are like every other computer, they do what you tell them. like he said, all comes down to installer

I run a skytek remote start that I put on and it works perfect although new trucks with the multiplex wire are a pain to wire My truck will start and turn on heat below a preset temp or turn on a/c when temp is above. You can even have mine start the truck at a specific time every morning so no getting up early. You can activate the heated seats and also the high idle feature from auxiliary outputs on the remote it is easy and any shop that doesn't have butchers and is reputable can do it. If you run into a problem I can give you most of the wires you need to hook up to. Sad part in all this I don't drive my truck hardly
