ramifier & afe air intake mileage report
I had the Ramifier and afe stage 2 air intake installed last week.Today the wife and I took a 200 mile round trip to check my mileage.I filled the fuel tank right up to the neck to make sure it was good and full, refueled at same station, same process when we got back.I hand calculated the mileage. We drove 55-62 mph empty,95% highway and 5% city driving(empty)My mileage was 22.3 mpg
verhead mileage display stated 18.9 mpg,s.Before I had my box and air intake I was getting 17-19mpg,s.I am happy with the new mileage figures & added horsepower.coobie

Very happy with the Ramifier and afe air intake.coobie
Ok, this could and probably has been a new thread way too many times, but how are these boxes increasing mileage?
All I have is the edge and the banks 4' exhaust on my 04 305/55 and I never get better mileage with the box. As a matter of fact, when I make long trips 500miles or more. I actually remove the box. I only have the edge set on 1 because I have no tranny mods or anything done to the fuel system so I wanted to be safe. I have all the gauges but that is it.
so, is this a better fuel box as far as mileage goes or do others see a gain with the edge and maybe I am just unlucky as usual. I lose 1-1.5 mpg with the box on. Do I need to run the box on a higher setting?
thanks guys

I believe the mpg increase with pressure boxes is a result of reduced injector duration. Lets say you are driving down the road. It is taking 100 hp...
The truck stock...opens the injector for a duration at a pressure to create 100 hp.
The struck with a pressure box...opens the injector for a shorter duration at an increased pressure to create the same 100 hp.
The trend towards higher injection pressures (Bosch is looking at 30k+ pressure systems now) makes me believe that there is an efficency increase in combustion.
So...efficency increase do to raised pressure a shorter duration (which is a small advance in timing since the injector is closed sooner).
Some pressure boxes do better than others...the Ramifier has been the best mpg box of my experience (EZ, VA 1/2, TST, Quad). You must make yourself drive exactley the same fashon thoug or you will not see these results...which is hard to do when your truck takes off like a sports car!

RonP, If you have gauges put the Edge on setting 3 i bet you will get more MPG I did when i cranked it up. Doesnt effect trans if your not stupid with it. Watch your gauges and enjoy, got rid of the Edge EZ when I won the Ramifier

I love this ramifier so far.coobie

Please ignore the others who state the auto holds 100 hp just fine. This box slips the stock TC over about 75% setting on that ****. I played with my brothers for a while till it felt right.
Before I became more educated in the auto tranny world, I ran a VA duration for about 25k on the stock auto. 75% or more of the time on the 50% setting and the rest of the time hot rodding on the 100% setting. When I had my tranny done by ATS...it was on its last leg. The VA on 50% is less peak hp than with the Ramifier on high...but hits about the same at the bottom. It was too much for the stock auto. There is a reason then when floored the rpms never drop much with each shift when the Ramifier is on high. The tranny starts to act normal when the box is turned down to 75%. IMHO that is the max safe setting with the Ramifier on a stock auto. It most likely will not put doen any more power on higher setting due to it going up in slipping heat.

I'm sorry but I dont drive it like a moron. Also, it doesnt seem to have more than the Edge EZ at all. If the trans goes it gives me a reason to buy and ATS. But I can see others are agreeing with me in that this program doesnt run very very high to bust everything up like the power pup does. So, this isnt even really comparable. I hope for the best with my trans and other peoples. But what is the difference if I am not flooring and just cruising on the highway with it cranked up, i dont think that destroys the trans. Also, when racing you slowly turn it up as you climb, which prevents you from putting to much in the beginning which blows the trans up. Good luck I'd say I have figured out the trans pretty well for the Ramifier but who knows we will see in another couple of months.
