Question about Trans Temp gauge sensor
Transmission Temps
I have seen some of the discussion on this and I am sold on the fact I need this sensor, so here's my question, what temps are considered safe, and what temps are Transmission killers?
Well, I ordered the Trans line from Mass Diesel and put it on today. Install was pretty easy(albeit a little messy). Now my question is this, what temps should I be seeing in the hot line. Drove the truck about 40 miles today after the install, and the temps never got above 140* and fell quickly on open road. It only seemed to rise in stop and go traffic. Does this sound right to everyone using this line ?
Temps
Heat is only created when the torque converter is sliping. So when your converter is locked on the highway, no heat. Normally on the highway, I'll see 100-120 crusing. city and town driving it'll go up to 180 in the summer. Towing normally never over 180 when locked. Once you get up to the 240 range is when you start toasting the fluid. Hope this is all right, I"m sick and can't think straight
