My Nelson Muffler Install

I installed one of the Nelson 51" mufflers in place of the CC and factory muffler. I am pleased with the install. With the Cat removed the install goes quite easy as far as lining things up goes, I only had to make one small angle change at the back to get things where I wanted them. Parts required were the 86131M muffler, a 48" and a 12" piece of 4" tubing (cut to length during install), the clamps were reused. Three hangers hold the muffler up and these were very easy to fabricate.

Slighty louder and deeper than the factory at idle and no noticeable difference at cruising speed.

That is good to here about the cruisin speed sound. I have the Donaldson cousin sitting at the house ready for install. The MBRP I have on now is a drone king and is worse since I installed a HTT super stock turbo.

I am looking forward to a pull that does not drive you nuts.

Have you noticed any sound increase while accelerating? Any EGT reduction while cruising or cool down?

It is slightly louder on acceleration. EGT's dropped 50* while cruising and cool down is quicker.

Thanx for sharing the photos & stuff. I have been looking at mufflers. This 51" Donaldson seems to be leaving people pretty happy.

I can't believe no one has b!tched that you removed the cat.
Any idea how much you lightened the truck? When I put a straight pipe inplace of my cat and muffler I kept the removed parts. I was suprised how heavy they were.

The mufflers weigh about the same so I lightened it roughly about the weight of the cat..so not a whole bunch.
