Nelson muffler installation with Diesel Power Product's help
Nelson muffler installation with Diesel Power Product's help
I just wanted give Dave Meehan at Diesel Power Products kudos for piecing together a great Nelson muffler installation kit for my friend's truck. The kit included:
1. A Banks turbo downpipe.
2. All the needed 4" exhaust plumbing and clamps to use the stock tailpipe.
3. An extra piece of 4" tubing and a muffler clamp/hanger to attach to the tailpipe so my friend could use one of the intermediate exhaust system hangers until he get the rest of the system welded up with more hangers on the muffler.
4. The flange already cut off of the Banks downpipe for the universal installation.
5. And at a great price that set my friend back about $300 total for the whole new exhaust system, with the Nelson muffler and shipping costs added in.
I'm not affiliated with Diesel Power Products in any way, but it was obvious to me that they did a great job at a great price. Unfortunately, they don't offer the Nelson/Donaldson products at this time, so they can't sell a complete system. Although, there are many other places to get these mufflers.
BTW - the Nelson 86131M on my friend's QCSB 4x4 truck sounds fantastic! You completely get the big rig sound when on the go peddle. At idle, it's ony a tad more louder (with the window down) than stock and makes this muscular "burbling" sound. With the windows up, there's no big difference. Lastly, there's isn't any droning apparent at highway speeds with an unloaded truck.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I think my "friend" wants to take the sleeper approach by having his truck to look stock. He's also running a Volumizer on 100HP and and AFE PG7 drop-in. Since just yesterday, he's surprised several performance vehicles. The truck just rocks!!!
