Loss of power with nelson 41" muffler?

I replaced my stock muffler about a month ago with a Nelson 41" straight through 4" in out,and have noticed quite a loss in power in the mid to high range of the RPM'S.I have not changed anything else so it has to be the muffler.

Has anyone else experienced this with a new muffler,or have any answers as to why this would happen? If anything i thought the nelson would gain me a little power.

Thanks

the exhaust system should not make a power difference on your stock truck.
There is no power difference between the stock exhaust and a 5" system on the CR trucks.
Is the muffler installed in the correct airflow direction. you can drill a hole in the pipe in front of and behind the muffler and check for a significant pressure differential.

Thanks for the reply.I installed it with the dome part towards the rear as the parts guy told me to.I might try removing the muffler and see what happens.I know it doesn't make any sense.
