Jeff K's gallery is great, but you need to see that truck in person. Jeff doesn't do anything halfway, and his truck is absolutely amazing. Top notch work on everything, he'd need about 5 signatures to list all of the stuff done to that bad boy. Cheers, buddy, nice work. Marc

I dont think it was a bad move. the manual trannys are getting hard to find and very expensive it looks like. so at least you can buy parts for your built auto if something happens

Thanks Marc!

The auto is working great. No problems at all so far. I am in the process of wiring up a few more switches into the tranny controller so I can select between the two calibration files, lockout OD, and select manual mode. I also am wiring up a circuit that will allow me to use the steering wheel volume controls for the upshift/downshift while in the manual mode. Should be sweet!

Are talking about a Paddle Shift type of setup? I guess with those long Canada winters you have some extra time on your hands

Yup, the ATS standalone controller has provisions for wiring in the multiplexed steering wheel volume control button signal so that you can use those buttons for upshift/downshift.

A heated garage + A long cold Canadian winter = lots of time spent playing with the truck

That's cool, I like your setup. Why did you choose to go floor shift? So you would not have to swap out columns?

If you don't want to lose your volume controls, companies like Twist Machine make aftermarket paddle shifters as well. Might be tough to work it into the factory steering column but what else can you do in the winter.

Your truck sounds like it belongs on the cover of a diesel mag

Yeah, i didn't want to deal with the hassle of removing and replacing the column, so I went with the floor shifter. I also already had the hole in the floor and the floor console, so it just made sense to me.

Supercharged_hp, Thanks for the comments I will look into those paddles and see if the could work. Right now, I am planning a relay driven circuit that would route the steering wheel volume button signal to the tranny controller when I am in manual mode, and still be used for volume otherwise, but dedicated paddles would be pretty cool!

Jeff K, I hope you will be around to answer a few questions because I think I am going to do the same thing. I am into drag racing and the manual is not cutting it. I have to unload the manual to help fund the project, but it looks like it shouldnt be that bad. Your installation looks awesome. It really pays to take your time and do it right.

That ought to be real cool when completed, and something that you could probaly market once completed. I am sure ALOTof guys here on the site with autos would like a paddle shifter type setup. Since I brought it up however, I get 10%

ATs lock up controller

Would the ATs lock up controller and select shift work on an already built stage 3 ATs automatic tranny?
