Installed Quad Standard Box - but where is the economy?

G'day guys,

I installed my Quadzilla Standard box last week, and can report I am VERY impressed. The buying process through DTR was great (thanks Larry!), installation was simple (and I am mechanically challenged) and the newfound power is awesome!!

It went from being dopey, almost hesitant off the line (I have 35inch tyres) and now it will lay rubber - impressive.

However which setting, 30-60-100, provides the best economy? If I am in cruise control at 70mph on the hwy, which setting will give be the best MPG figures?

Thanks guys,

Cheers,

Batts

I was told either the 30 or 60 setting, but of the two it will depend on your truck. Some guys get better results on the 30 while others on the 60. Of course how you drive makes a difference, also.

Mine should be here tomorrow. I can't wait to get it installed!

mileage will depend if you can keep your foot out of it!!! when I had the standard, the best I got was on the 60hp setting.

I second Dodgezilla04. I get better economy on the 60 setting than the 30 setting. Doesn't make sense, but my calculations don't lie.

I think I was getting the best at the 100 setting and the worst at the 60 setting. , I know. That was hand calculated. I've been rotating through all the settings for a year and still haven't decided where to leave it.

Has Quad mentioned which is the best setting? I understand mileage depends on how you drive, but I am talking about sitting on cruise control @ say 70mph.

Im about to head off on a 2500mile road trip (not towing) and wanted to know what setting I should run.

Cheers,

Batts

Typically the best gains are in the 60hp settings.

Now we have numerous people tell us they get a little better mileage in the 100hp setting. WE also have those that claim they get the best in the 60hp setting.

In a test cell the best gains are in the 60hp setting. That is measuring the fuel consumption with a fuel flow turbine.

Now there are so many things that can change that it is not funny.

Thanks Quad,

I actually called Quadzilla this morning, explaining I was heading off on an open road toad trip and asked which setting was best. The person I spoke to suggested to try both the 60 and 100 settings. I assume it is not accurate to go by the overhead display? Best to do a full tank on each setting and hand calculate?

Thanks,

Hey - great product! Why didnt I buy it earlier....

Gday Mark!

The hand calculation is the only way to get accurate numbers as the overheads are off once you add a fueling box. Have a safe trip and if you end up near my neck of the woods, give a shout...beers on me

The best mileage I ever got was on 100hp(21mpg). I think it all depends on were you are driving flat open road should work well for the 100, some sharp hills and overpasses maybe 60, and the hills whatever you need to get over them to flat open road.

Does elevation and air quality affect mileage enough to make a difference. Several months ago I drove up to see my brother in TN near Greeneville. We drove up into the mountains climbed up/down steep hills and when my brother drove he had a heavy foot. I got 16.4mpg hand calculated. I simply couldn't believe it. If I got that down here in FL I would fall right out of my seat!!!

Am looking to purchase power chip, but have not decided yet. Sounds as though you have had good luck with your quadzilla? Easy to install? Where did you purchase?

Can you go to the 100 hp without doing mods to the trans? Have you put in gauges?
