Slipping Clutch on Quad's standard box?

Is anyone else slipping their clutch using Quad's standard 100hp box? From everyone who shared their experience here, I was pretty sure that my clutch would not have any problem with this box. But, I easily slip my clutch when I am on the 100hp setting. It even slips if I roll into with my rpm high.

I have only had this truck ~5 weeks, and it has 63k miles on it. I have not noticed any other problems, but have only pulled light loads.

I am guessing that the previous owner had a pretty aggressive box on it, and had already glazed the clutch.

Somebody tell me I'm wrong. I wanted to wait to put a clutch in until I was ready to stack.

On the upside, the box is great. It seems to add as much on the lower setting, as my Van Aaken did on my '99. The middle setting doesn't seem to add much, and like I said earlier. I can't really use the third setting. , but it seems strong.

I havent been able to get mine to slip with the quad race box yet, but I do have the g56 and dual mass fly wheel, not that the g56 is better or worse it is just differanct than your set up.

Mine slipped with my race box set on 100. I went ahead and put a SBC in there and no problems since. One thing to consider is when the mechanic dropped the tanny he noticed that the seal around the input shaft was leaking and throwing oil on my clutch.. I pretty sure thats why mine started slipping. Food for thought..

I was really hoping that I would be able to attribute this to something else.

I would assume that if it was caused by an oil leak, that it will already be glazed by now, and need to be replaced soon?

I couldn't slip my clutch even with racing a Mustang and the box set on 140. I think it's clutch time for you...

It's clutch time for me, too. I just went from the Quad Race to a Bully Dog Triple Dog and TST w/ the R49 remote. I need to exercise some self-control until I can get my clutch installed on January 9th (first day the diesel shop has time!)

Oh well.

I had worked so hard trying to convince myself to just throw a mild box on and be done with it.

But, if I have to get a clutch anyway. Might as well do it right.

I guess I can justify a stack, or injectors then. Since I will already have a clutch that can hold it.

I can live with that line of reasoning.

Anytime you add that much HP you are taking your drive train beyond the limits it was designed to handle. Sure would be nice if Chrysler would design these things with us performance guys in mind But of course they don't.

Get a good South Bend clutch so you can go back to enjoying your truck

I was just suprised it started slipping so soon. It slips easier than my 2nd gen 5sp did with a hot drag box.

I am happy with the truck and the box anyway. I will just keep it turned down for a little longer.

I am stacking a Juice/Attitude and the EZ with other mods in my sig. and have not slipped my stock clutch once. I do no throttle launches though towing and empty. If you give it throttle while launching and feathering the clutch then you will be sure to have clutch problems. The stock clutch holds up as long as you are not abusing it by feathering on high throttle between shifts. The guy that owned the truck before you probably didn't do you any favors either. My .02.

I agree. Most likely the previous owner abused the clutch.

But, I can assure you that this clutch is not capable of holding the power on the highest setting. It isn't the driver.

Agreed. Once a clutch gets scored or "glazed" from abuse they alomst never can be trusted again especially on these torque monsters no matter how nice you are.

Sounds like a Southbend DD Con FE is next on your list. Once I go for a FASS, short shifter and turbo, it will be on my list as well. Then I'm done, promise.

Well, got home and climbed under to check for any sign of a leak around the bellhousing.

No sign of a leak, but my clutch is coming apart. There weren't any big pieces or tons of dust, but lots of little pieces of what looked like fiberglass inside the bottom of my bellhousing.

Also, now it is slipping with the box turned off. Hopefully it will last long enough for me to get a new clutch, and the time to install it.

My stock clutch would slip with just my ez on setting 3 or 4. I've had a new one since 35k.

In level 4 or 5 on my Juice I can get the clutch to slip anytime. I know the clutch was perfect before the box it's just too much torque.

Smile No Slip

I have an 05' with the G56 6-Speed and the Juice/Attitude. I haven't been able to make the clutch slip as of yet...but I am sure time will tell. I dunno if it is the dual mass that is helping it out or what.
