if you do it very long, you could burn it up. when we did a tune on a gasser we would do a "stall" test to check the rpms and the condition of the trans/converter. you cannot exceed 250 degrees trans oil temp...... doing a stall raises temps FAST!

Get a trans temp gauge hooked up in the "HOT" line and then you will know....prob no more than 5-10 sec.....

I wouldn't be worried about clutches. I'd be worried about a broken shaft.

u dont think it will hurt the clutches? i know a lot of auto truck do it before a pull to build boost i thought. or like right before you do a big burnout. i just dont want to ruin my tranny.

I have a fast responding gauge in the hot line and mine doesn't seem to get any hotter if I stage for 15 seconds or if I stage for 5. It will see around 200* at the end of a 1/4 mile run in 90*+ temps.

I ALWAYS stage last at the track so I don't have to hold boost while the other guy stages. You see videos of high HP guys staging for 10-20 seconds and they don't seem to be doing any immediate damage.

i would say if you get a good valve body and converter which you might already have the converter im not really firmiliar with your tranny you would be fine with boosted launch's
